Interesting first race for racing point. One car in the points, just not the one everyone thought it would be. Lot of new parts on the car to understand. Think they will be in better shape the next race.

Lance surprisingly competitive and had the measure of Checo this weekend. Congrats to him showing it isn't all about the money!

not really he was well beaten in qualiy and got lucky in that he avoided the givo train by not pitting early if perez did the same he would have been far higher up. perez was only the 3rd real pit stop on lap 13 while stroll stayed out until lap 27. so no he did't have the messure lost quali and got lucky with traffic..

So being a tenth slower in Q1 is well beaten? He also was blocked on his last Q1 attempt. Then in the race he got his usual good start and gained two positions, By lap 13 he was only 2 positions behind perez when perez pitted. I don't think this is going to be the one sided battle some posters predicted.

Perez: Stroll has stronger race pace than Ocon, Hulkenberg

Racing Point is locking in their position as 9th fastest team. But still very much in the midfield pack as Australia points showed.

Looks like Stroll Sr.'s purchase of Force India has moved Stroll up the grid from 20th (behind teammate Sirotkin) to 18th (behind teammate Perez). That's an expensive improvement.

There does seem to be a consistent difference between Ocon/Sirotkin being better in qualy, and Perez/Stroll being better in races. Why? Setup? Difference between ability to hang it out 100% over 1 lap vs. ability to drive at consistent 99% over 30 lap stint?

Perez did a 1:29.0 in testing today. That's 7 tenths faster than his fastest lap in qualifying. Is Racing Point already testing upgrades which put them a significant step forward?

Not sure if they use same tires as Bahrain QF.
Otmar Szafnauer stating that they had only unlocked half of the potential of the new parts by the end of the race in Bahrain

C3 was softest/quali tire for Bahrain GP, they used C5 in test to do 1.29.0.

Racing Point unveils plans for £25m F1 factory at Silverstone site

Since then the team has added another 20 employees and plans to expand by an additional 180 over the next two years as it seeks an ambitious push in performance.

When the consortium, headed up by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, took over Force India in the summer, one of the priorities was to look at developing the Dadford Road base.

Since then a deal has been struck to purchase the land around the site to increase the size of the Racing Point HQ ten-fold, to 30 acres.

There is a two-stage redevelopment of their site, with the first phase already underway. At present an overspill of 125 employees are based at a second location in Brackley, but they are being moved into Dadford Road with rented Portakabins housing staff in the car parks around the factory.

Warehouse space is also being rented for the team's simulator and race operations room in the industrial units close to its current base.

The team's philosophy has been to outsource much of the construction of its chassis, but the plan for the new facility is to create a manufacturing centre of excellence to bring car build in-house.

The ratio of personnel employed between the design office and manufacturing will be determined by the make-up of the 2021 regulations - which have yet to be finalised by the sport's governing body.

"Our new facility will be able to house the expansion we have planned of increasing staffing levels to around 600," Szafnauer told F1 Racing.

"We need everyone under one roof, we want to expand our manufacturing output, create a nice canteen, some office space, meeting rooms and a gym for our employees - everything we don't have at the moment.

"But we don't plan for it to be too opulent. We still need to retain our DNA and our racer's ethos, so it will be purpose-built for performance."

The plans to upgrade the factory to a new state-of-the-art, sustainable building is an indication of Stroll's long-term commitment to F1 and a boost to the Motorsport Valley economy around Silverstone and in the UK - particularly in the uncertain political landscape.

The Factory is a mess of old warehouse with bits added on and limited budgets. This will make a massive difference to the team .The farmer will be sitting on a nice retirement pot now for sure =D>
