Haas VF-20 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looking at it though, did they just repaint an old SF90, or?
No, you can compare air inlets of SF90 and this Haas + photo with Grosjean sitting in the car 2020. SF90 has a pointed top and a rounded bottom.

Are we really surprised that it looks like last year's Ferrari? The Haas car last year was terrible and the issues were probably so deep routed that it would make more sense to start over.

They are also partnered with one of the fastest teams on the grid. So just copy paste their car.

The images are photoshopped to hide any details in dark areas, unfortunately

If you click on a photo in the Twitter message, you will even get the photo on your entire screen.
The old trick was to open in new tab and add :orig at the end but now twitter just gives you the max. image size right away, which is cool ... in this case 4096x2304
Weird crankcase breather. Vertically right of the rain light. Used to be under it.

What about suspensions? Will newer Ferrari have the same ones? Are they different from last years one?

To me it actually looks like the VF19 engine cover is slimmer

Haas use the same suspension as the Ferrari at the beginning of the season, not sure if they get any upgrades.

Yes the new Ferrari will most likely have the same suspension.
Some things to note:
-more extrem (or noticable) POU offset
-steering rod now separate of the top wishbone
-X & Z axis position looks to be the same

That separated steering rod looks like it could hugely influence the barge board flow structure in lower speed/high lock corners...

Its probably more important to tune the rear wing/diffuser interaction than just "max shrink".

These brightened images show some really interesting detail in bargeboard areas and along the length of the floor

Since Haas and ferarri use the same suspension we can expectFerrari to have increased rake angle too.

Non an expert but those strips paintings at the front wing as the fin does help a bit with the airflow? (otherwise would not be painted fragmented, specially on the fin that it is just one element)
