2020 car comparison thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

On the side shot, the Renault looks very high at the rear.

If the stance in the photos is representative of an actual set-up, it looks as though Renault and Williams have the highest rake

That Alfa doesn't half have a fat behind

In noticed it in the mid of last year, that the racing point inverted the rake to 0 after 25% of a Long straight. From the characteristic I think this is a hydraulik System.

I wonder if Mercedes are going to test the low drag rear wing for later in the season, or do they really get enough downforce to be able to run such a small wing? Impressive if that's the case and it means they'll be difficult to overtake on the straights.

Whose going to be overtaking them anyway in a normal race unless they have significant damage or technical issues ?

Pit stops sometimes mix things up, but yes, I take your point.

The opposite question might be interesting, however. If Mercedes run such a small rear wing, the effect of DRS will be less which might mean they aren't as quick to get by things on the straights.

I think a better way of looking at it might be, their top speed will be reduced less with DRS closed. If anything it would make them harder to overtake by an opponent with DRS open.

Tiny RW also on the Ferrari.
Also that's the new potentially lower DF/drag FW.
