Alpine A523

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

But the pink have a different FW. It’s just a mockup?

When he talked about the engine he said reliability was improved but did he talk about power?

In January there was an interview where alpine technical director said they improved the engine reliability without gaining any power wich i doubt

Otmar also said castrol has given them more power is that just PR since fuel is frozen ?

This one shows the down ramp on the sidepods a bit better:

This car has a sharkfin. The one at the track did not.

Then Alpine, Mercedes & Red Bull FTW.
In that order.

The increase of the 'cannon tube' size/fatness may be the sign that the 'water slide'/trench got deeper and is almost separating the sidepod in two parts.
So maybe hot air will follow path '2' more in 2023 and exit more directly through cannon.

Or not.

The AM has an extreme water slide, and a fat transition for the air to transit from sidepod to cannon exit.
The A523 seems to be skinnier there. But how is its water slide?
We'll see, in Abu Dhabi 2023

The sidepods are reminiscent to the Lotus' blown exhaust era from 2012/13.

Interestingly, Harman says the cooling system is smaller (esp the centerline one), but they also reduced charge air temperature & gained power.
*that T° is limited by the rules (must be 10° above ambient)

The rollhoop neck, around intercooler, looks thinner... a new & more efficient intercooler?

But it's a low poly render like last year, sadly. + some parts are not up to date & others are simplified.
FW is bigger (with a different main plane and flaps than shakedown indeed)
Th endplates are too different; their slits are pushed far backwards like Mclaren and others since '22. But A522 & shakedown A523 didnt have that.

Floor mouth design is more agressive and RedBullesque.
The studio car is the A522 yes.

The slits/flap gaps I'm talking about.
