Too bad the race will be wet as we won't get race trim speed questions answered. At least it might be fun though. Wish Mercedes still wins. They deserve it this weekend.

I don't blame Kimi for his so-so performances. He is doing just fine.
Any driver that has to compromise so many of their races "for the team" (as he does) would have both motivation and confidence deficits.

Hamilton lost 3 tenths during S1+S2 to his first run. So that could be a 1
29.7. Wow.

Don't be so sure mate, it was a certain wet Q but it was dry eventually. You never know with the weather

Looking at Charles Leclerc's qualifying lap, it feels like he could have put that Ferrari on pole! :)

He is definitely the best bet to put in Kimi's seat for next year.
Vettel will have a lot to say about that.

Wet start, finishing on a drying track always seems to produce high- drama nail biters...

Looking forward to tomorrow!

Vettel has stated time and again that he has no say in the other seat... Do you have proof he is lying? Or is it just speculating?

Yes if Lewis had hooked all his sectors, he would have been 6 tenths up compared to Ferrari.

Dominant Mercedes. They were not beatable today. But I hope Mercedes fans won't tell that it's up to the new engine which is vastly faster than Ferrari's. It was a combination of all factors.
With respect, Mercedes fans have been saying for years it's not just the engine. Everyone else has been saying it's just the engine's power advantage that means Mercedes do well. It's quite funny to see it going the other way. 8)

I think the overwhelming Merc engine advantage disappeared last year, now it's just the normal ups and downs that come with in season developments.

It was gone in 2015 itself. Ferrari couldn't get a chassis that was on par with Mercedes or Red Bull. They finally managed it last year and have continued it. That is making the difference.

- Track type, aero (technical corners) - power (straights) combo. We'll see in the next 2 races although neither of them is IMO close enough, including tyres.
- New track
- Drivers - because of - see above
- the question, again, is if Mercedes engine advantage over Red Bull is 0,7 s. In general and on this type of track it should not be.

Too bad Grosjean had a mild case of lack of motivation :D , the one when you end up one position behind a team mate and not three. We'll see tomorrow if it was costly.

No rain tomorrow, at least not for the race, it'll rain just as it's ending.

Ferrari in trouble here.

In positions 3&6 with all the cars around them on the more optimal tyre.
Vettel seemed to be quite happy and to think they would be strong in the race, so let’s see.

Definitely advantage Mercedes.

He should be worried, he has Max next to him and Ric behind. If the get away is clean, he might get jumped during the stops.
