Interesting comparison of Yuki vs Daniel’s best laps in Q1:

Our story as it’s never been told before. The film, Whatever it Takes – the Race before the Races,
will have its world premiere on 6 September in Venice.

Whatever it Takes: a co-production between Scuderia AlphaTauri and Digital Lighthouse.
The definitive documentary starts off with a look at the team as it tackled the past two Formula 1 seasons, as well as looking back at its origins, its successes and its drivers past and present. The story goes back almost 20 years to the time when Red Bull acquired the little Minardi team and its Faenza factory. It goes on to cover the Scuderia Toro Rosso years and the current Scuderia AlphaTauri era, as recalled by the key players, starting with team principal Franz Tost.

From the track to the big screen.
A few days after the 2023 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the spotlight will therefore shift to the magical city of Venice, which will be hosting the Venice International Film Festival around that time. The premiere of Whatever it Takes on 6 September will be an event aimed at team guests and the specialist racing media, after which the film will be free to view for everyone on the Scuderia AlphaTauri YouTube official channel.

Hard luck to DR, just pushed a touch too hard through Eau Rouge and drifted a little wide in the damp conditions. Had the pace to make Q2 then who knows. Well done to Yuki starting in 11th. They may as well start Dan from pit lane on a dry setup. Maybe on mediums to try and catch up a bit and run longer in the first stint?

That sucks, you'd think the track limits wouldn't be policed so brutally in the wet. A few others had the same issue.

Yeah so easy to understeer and drift wide in those damp conditions. Not like he is gaining any time there doing that either. Brutal sometimes.

Superb job by Tsunoda there, he should have made q3 with the pace he had, had his lap been a bit later.

Yuki Tsunoda (AT04-04, Car 22)

Qualifying – Best lap: (Q1) 1:59.044, (Q2) 1:53.148, pos. 11th

“The pace was pretty good, and I’m happy with the lap I put together. In the end, most of the cars were behind me, so they used the opportunity as the track was improving fairly quickly. The team called me in and put on the soft compound, which I didn’t expect to be quicker, but it worked. In the end, it was the right decision, so thanks to them. If you drive with the dry tyres on this track, and some corners flat out, it’s always a joy to drive here. It wasn’t quite flat out today, because the track was still drying, but it was still fun, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow. The car was good and consistent, and I think the team gathered good knowledge about the car on the intermediate compound, which we struggled with three races ago, so we definitely made a huge step there. I was always feeling comfortable, and we were in good shape. Overall, I think it was a good day for the team; Daniel would’ve been through to Q2 if it wasn’t for track limits, so it’s encouraging for us.”

Great 10th for Dan today, outdriving the car and looking comfortable already.

Yes very impressive.

The tyres were cooked as he tried to hold onto p8 and the downforce level was very low

But the competitiveness of the car is there and both cars could progress very nicely in the race with the right strategy
