Please.. honda never going to take the season as a test. A small engine problem, people humiliate honda.
It's not as easy as they say.
The thing here honda is not being thrashed for no fault of theirs. When you have to take penalties and the season is not even 1/3rd finished, there is something fundamentally wrong. Honda needs to take the season as test, there are no token system now and while they are bringing updates as they are ready , I still believe that they should use atleast the practice sessions as a test of sorts. Honda is having dyno to track co-relation issues and everytime we hear of this elusive upgrade that is going to solve the issues and put McLaren closer to the front, and then when the upgrade is introduced Arai and now Hasegawa tells us how it didn't perform as expected and it's the same old story.

I don't know what Hasegawa san meant with "small" but if that small update like spain update brings 10 kw, still it is good.

As Much as I hate to admit it, I agree wholeheartedly with GoranF1.

The only thing I'd change is "fix what's wrong" with improve or tune but that's semantics

Really ???? where have you been ???? They redesigned the PU in the offseason and just threw everything out there. If they were worried about humiliation...They would have gone alot more conservative than they have.

They must work on getting just 1 engine ready so that Vandoorne can test and possibly race it over the weekend.

Alonso has - so far - a penalty free engine and must utilise it to the fullest.

You can win from last in MTL if you have the pace.

Until engine is half decent they need to use season as test....when they make progress(significant) then change strategy.
Exactly!

Maybe the problem with this is they can´t do any proper test until mkII PU is maidened as after winter tests I guess all their efforts were focused on solving all those problems... At least I hope that´s the situation now, because otherwise I wouldn´t understand anything about Honda :?:

My point was if the pu update was available, you could over come the penalties.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

With Honda talking about decision on PU update possibly as late as Thursday, I was thinking about the logistics of that.

It's about 15hr flight time from Japan to Montreal, add to that the packing and unloading and transport to/from airport, I can only think the updated PU will ship on Wednesday no matter what.

Tue/Wed/Thu is when the final mappings will be tested in the factory before giving the go/no go to mount the new engine.

Honda must have about 6 engines in Montreal, old and new spec's
