S3 contains the off camber 10-11 complex as well as the medium to high speed 12-13, so saying it is all power is a touch disingenuous.Juzh wrote:RB (and TR) was basically the same as ferrari in S2 high speed stuff, then lost 7-8 tenths in S3 which is all power.
By your logic, the Ferrari chassis must be 0.7 seconds faster than Mercedes...djos wrote:@FoxHound
So how are those rb11 chassis issues Renault claimed existed looking?
Both looked decent in the wet qualifying and Dan RIC placed his in p4 on row 2 along side Britney with Dan K 1 place behind on row 3!
They both are. S3 more so still. Longer straight + acceleration onto start/finish. So 2 proper acceleration zones. And all renaults are losing massively there. Which is inexcusable, since ferraris are near the top or actually on top (start/finish line).Jonnycraig wrote:S3 contains the off camber 10-11 complex as well as the medium to high speed 12-13, so saying it is all power is a touch disingenuous.Juzh wrote:RB (and TR) was basically the same as ferrari in S2 high speed stuff, then lost 7-8 tenths in S3 which is all power.
Arguably the S1 blast down to the low speed T1-2 complex and drive up the hill to T3 is the power/driveability sector.
This just goes to show TR has a relatively good chassis, as opposed to RB having a terrible one. They'll also get rekt tomorrow once again almost certainly. Russia 2014 all over again. TR good in quali, utterly bad in the race.FoxHound wrote: You also forgot to add, that a bloody Torro Rosso chassis driven by a 17 year old in his 2nd race managed to qualify 0.030 behind a Red Bull chassis.

After a troubled season opener in Australia, Ricciardo claims that a dramatic step forward in driveability has transformed his car's potential.
Ricciardo:I think from where we are now compared to Melbourne it is night and day different. It's still not perfect but we've made the best step we can ask for in a two-week period. If we can keep building on that then I think we're going to be looking good in the not too distant future. I think in Melbourne it was costing us a fair chunk, in terms of laptime. Not a second, but a fair bit. I think it's lot closer here so we're not talking the big stuff anymore.
It wouldn't have put us any higher on the grid. I think Rosberg was still over a second in front so that was too much of a gap. For sure we can keep improving it, but for now we've got to be pretty happy with the steps that we've made.
Kvyat:
To be honest it Melbourne it couldn't be any worse. We kind of got ahead of it so I must say Renault did a very sensible step in the right direction. There are plenty of steps to be made still but I think generally, mainly the right steps have been made."
Which completely backs up my point, if the driveabililty improves and there is no evil chassis traits, the performance improves too.FoxHound wrote:http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/118264?
Ricciardo and Kvyat both impressed with Renault's progress in terms of driveability.
Both driver's put Red Bull's improved display down to the driveability of Renault engine compared to Australia.....

Which is all great, but there's still an issue of 100 or so elephants in the room.FoxHound wrote:http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/118264?

Did Ricciardo change his wing at stage of the race? I cannot recall him doing so.djos wrote:RIC had front wing damage from the first corner and was even told to let DK thru because it was getting worse.
DK Tbh i don't really think that much of, both TR drivers are better imo.
Spot on =D>FoxHound wrote:
Today was a damning verdict on Red bull's plight. It aint just the engine chaps...
It certainly helps that both TR drivers stayed out of trouble, that's a key ingredient of doing a better job imo.NathanOlder wrote:
As for the RB11, both cars behind both Toro rosso, with equal engines says the RB11 is far from the best car on the grid, either that or the Toro Rosso is he best car out there and the renault is that bad.
Why not change it then? Kvyat had no such problems and he too found himself beaten by both Torro Rosso's.Juzh wrote:Ric said in an interview FW damage was hurting him a lot.
