ALPINE-MERCEDES TIE-UP SET TO INCLUDE SUSPENSION/GEARBOX AND COULD START IN 2025

It doesn't show that Alpine-Renault are serious about being a works team, does it? :?:

It would seem their F1 team would become a marketing exercise like the Oreca-Mecachrome-XTrac LMDh car?

To me it shows they are serious about being an actual F1 team. Eliminates by far the weakest link of the Renault project for the past deacde.

If Alpine are going to cease building their own powerplants, then the sooner they switch to being a customer team, the better.
Limping on into 2025 with a powerplant that is still down in performance compared to the competitors does them no favours.

Viry-Chatillion is the only part of the French national Formula One team that is actually French...

If Alpine is just a sticker on an English garagista team, then Alpine is little better than an Alfa Romeo sticker on a Sauber? :wtf:

If the team is not French in any way, what is the motivation for the Group Renault board to continue with it?

------

Alpine's target (as Alpine-Mercedes) is to match McLaren-Mercedes who have the fastest car and may win the 2025 WCC and WDC, and possibly again in 2026.
Alpine must compete with Aston Martin and McLaren behind the the powerful RBR/Mercedes/Ferrari trio. According to Luca di Meo.

Is this feasible for Alpine to compete with McLaren? :?:

Unless this is an outdated plan in which case de Meo's absurd view is pure embarrassment.

Enstone is still owned by the Renault corporation so no, it's not the same as the Sauber Alfa partnership.

"Garagistas" do not have 1,000 on staff with plans to expand to 1,200 in the next two years.

I'm extremely sure there are French engineers on staff alongside staff from all over the map. The location of the headquarters isn't that important.

With that logic, what is Mercedes F1 with every thing in UK ? Truth is silicon valley for F1 is in UK ... and Viry is really not a good location if you want to attract people

To me it shows cold an realistic truth:

- They can have an Alpine F1 team for 0€. Sponsors, revenues and 24% owned by investor cover everything.
- And buy a solid engine/gearbox/rear
- And try do do regular podiums hence showing Alpine to the world

In short: With less money they can be P4 in championship and do podiums. It was always the only target of Renault, they never were serious about F1 title (since 2016)

Also an F1 team based on garagistes -- BAR chassis, Ilmor engines. I don't think the Government which backed their 1930's in-house dominance would be happy with their choice of team location / "out-sourcing" (it rather defeats the propaganda objectives)!

Red Bull are a garagista too of course, as are Lotus and McLaren of course.

It's Ferrari with the traditional in-house Continental works team. :)

You can see it clearly with the lack of German flags being waved to support Mercedes at the German Grand Prix (which Mercedes-Benz doesn't bother to host/sponsor), compared to the Italian flags being waved at the Italian or Emilia Romaglia Grand Prixs to support Ferrari.

If there was still a French Grand Prix (hosted by Alpine?), I'm not sure French fans wave the French flag to support Renault or Alpine comparably to Ferrari either...

Go back far enough, and Ferrari were "garagista" too.

Could the Viry Renault engine program be salvaged by finding other willing customers - other than the unwilling Alpine F1 team - for the superb and powerful 2025-2026 Renault power units? How about Williams-Renault or McLaren-Renault? :?: :)

Yes, Ferrari raced Alfa Romeos in Grand Prix racing and even Lancias in Formula One. They were the official race team of Alfa Romeo though (much like AF Corse in LMP racing for Ferrari) and purchased the Lancia IP & race cars through the proper means AFAIK.
