Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

You should have seen Massas tyres after they took they off..........they were DESTROYED.

HUGE flat spots literally all the way down to the tread and graining like I've never seen before.

Look like Ferrari has found some DF as they seems to make the RAKE larger

Image

Front wing looks fine and endplate is still half in hight and regarding
Mayur
comments abt Ferrari's poor finish this FW looks awesome and without any glitches and in Mclaren's car i spot those glitches though they are not so pronounced as in the case of Ferrari. I personally feels that major blame is the color of those two car.

OZ Rims looks fine in its Original Golden Color but incase of Ferrari is just OK

And somebody says that Ferrari has 4 streak in its new RW but cant find that here.......

Does anybody think Ferrari may be sand-bagging a little in practices or just slower than the rest

They are slower. Considerably slower.

You relise your photo shows their car on jacks? The tyre isn't even on the ground

Yes but look at the difference of the tire in comparison with the ground. U will certainly find that the rake is more here than that of in the Malaysia Gp and from that we can atleast say that Ferrari may have found some downforce so they can now run with more rake and with a relatively less stiffer rear end.

Though from the pic of massas tyre and viewing FP1 nd FP2 it seems they still lack in this section. comment if i understand anything wrongly..... :D

The tyre there is hanging off the car. When the car is touching the ground, 640kg of car +driver is pushing the car down. Then we'll see how raked the car is.

Also having more rake doesn't mean they found more downforce. Rake is a way of MAKING downforce.

Stefano said maybe new exhaust for next race, how can they change it so quick it's next week?
Maybe original exhaust from Jerez only moved forward a bit?

i watched FP1 and first i noticed how alonso's ferrari has large rake, not sure about massa's ferrari. they drove two different setups at FP. about stefano saying new exhaust system for next race, they were maybe building it in maranello for last five weeks, who knows.

With the assistance of other stuff yes. Without it, it would create LESS downforce.

I didn't get a good look at the cars in practice, but I do tend to agree that you can't make any judgments about downforce based solely on the visible rake of the cars. Such could indeed be a sign that they've found, if not more total, more stable and predictable downforce. But it could also simply be the higher ride height associated with a wet setup.

Given Ferrari's woes of late and their success in Malaysia, I'm more inclined to believe that they're once again gambling with a wet setup.

I´ve seen this rake thing for years now since RBR started it (seriosuly)

Some practices you see lots of rake, some you don´t.
some are because of the picture itself, some aren´t.

Most definitely trial and error on the rear ride height for the race.

What do you mean you don't see the 4 gills on the end plates? Here is the old RW for comparison.
