Ferrari F2012

It might be a gamble, but it's not really that much of a risk. It would only be a risk if it was a given that the F2012 is likely score points based on its pace alone, and that's just not how it is right now. So, why not go for a wet setup and pray for rain, in which case a victory is possible?

That said, it's hard to tell by looking at the qualifying times if they've indeed opted for a wet setup. The 1.5 second gap to pole would seem to indicate a wet setup; that is, if Fry was forthright in his assessment that the car is 0.8 seconds from the front.

But, Rosberg's 0.5 second gap ahead of P2 - which is about the same as his gap to Schumacher in P3 - and the nature of the Mercedes Daffy Duct, his time could be an outlier that's not reflective of his car's race pace. That would imply that Alonso's gap to P1 is closer to 1 second, not 1.5, and that would suggest a dry setup.

Meh. I've probably said too much on the subject anyway. We'll see tomorrow.

Alonso was 10km/h slower than the Sauber on the straight, how much loss is that in term of a lap time?

Also having more rake doesn't mean they found more downforce. Rake is a way of MAKING downforce.

Ya i know that the car will certainly loose some rake when they will be grounded but considering the stiffness of the F1 car's suspension i don't think that it will be huge. So still they are look higher to me.

And abt MAKING downforce again u are spot on, i m just referring to the rake bcaz it seems to me that now that if they can arrange the rake in a higher level that may refer that they can now find some more downforce from here. Caz i know that downforce make the car to compressed to the ground and thus u need some rake to be untouched to the ground. Remember for some reason Ferrari can not run with their initial rake rather ran with lower rake in the recent races. So it struck me that may be they achieve something that enable them to do so. :D

f2012 today looked much better than last two races. until Q3 it was 0.3 sec off the pace of best teams. alonso's best time was in Q2 and it was 1:35.982, if you caompare it to hamilton's 1:35.626 in Q3 it doesn't look too bad. what happened with ferrari in Q3 i don't know.

alonso had 0.3 sec gap to webber and 0.4 to button. that isn't bad sign. pat fry said that car updates work well so it must be good for the team. even massa didn't look too bad. but those were strange Qualies with first ten drivers in Q2 in less than 0.3 sec.

Alonso in the spanish press, said in the last attempt Q3 the wind was higher that affected to all the drivers on second attempt but his estimate of time lost it was half of a second.

Martin Whitmarsh
During Q3, the air and track temperatures cooled rapidly as the sky overhead became suddenly overcast, and the circuit became appreciably slower as a result.

Maybe they used more tyres. But yeah, car seemed faster.

If F2012 was faster on the strights and faster in the corners, It would be closer to the pace of the leading contenders.

Ferrari test driver Marc Gene said during Fp3 that Ferrari will lose the Acer Ducts an introduce the Sauber solution for the Barcelona race.
