Has anyone covered the forward-swept sidepods ? The whole overall shape of the car has moved away from the traditional tear-drop.
don't know if already mentioned before in this post, but the nose tip in the F2012 is clearly behind the front wing leading edge: I think it's a first on recent F1 cars, what aero gains should this solution provide ?yace wrote:no one posted this pictures, so i do it
For sure it's much shorther than 2011 car...Lurk wrote:It's only due to the lense deformation. If you look at the pic from top, you'd see that nose tip is a little ahead FW
I think it isn't a stupid question. I would say that air increases its volume.Mr.G wrote:Maybe stupid question (I'm not airo guy) - Is there some significant difference (for airo) if the air which is blobving on some part is hot or not? I mean not exhust gas hot, but just more heater than the ambient temerature? Can this help, or it's the same?
as someone mentioned, this may help reduce the drag by the driver helemt..... who knows how the iarflow goes.....Brad-ferrari wrote:Would there be any benefits to this design over the common V nose other teams are adopting?
by comparing the f2008 with the f2012 i noticed that cars now are much longer..also...the sidepods in the f2008 were tiny compared to the ones we have now...how come they cannot make them so small now?Sisso KavanhaK wrote:Hey guys.
Here's a link that you can see some similarities between 2008 and 2012 design.

In terms of aero, the 2008 car had a interesting nose solution.
For me, the solutions for aero in 2012 are just similar then 2008, without the wing parts.
They will seek to transform some big parts of the car in wings, as we can se on exhaust exit.

As scarbs said, airflow under the car is more important than over the car. Without the V nose, Ferrari have made the bottom of the nose and bulkhead as high as possible.italian wrote:Air flow on the F2012 nose:
