Rosberg just explained that as the temperatures dropped the rear tyres came toward him and he had more grip.

He's by far the top qualifier this season. I'd be happy, too.

Am I right thinking that Schumi is the second best qualifier thus far? 4, 3, 3

*EDIT* Nope, Button would be...2,2,6
Depends how you score,

Lewis 1,1,2 = 4 3 times front row.
Jenson 2,2,6 = 10 2 times front row.
Schumi 4,3,3 = 10 1 time front row.

Yet Hamilton can't carry through for a win....

yea man but more than 0.500? all cars run at 1.35.600 -> 1.35.700. So nice job for Nico i think he can win tomorrow (hope). I'm sure he beats Michael smoothly

Who wants to wager Michael is setup better for higher fuel loads than Nico? Brilliant lap by Nico. Really

To be fair, he still wouldn't have won the race in Melbourne. The rain was equal for everyone.

Hell of a tight quali. Under 3 tenths for Q3 cutoff? Wow.

I think Merc can get at least one points finish from there...

If Nico can get off a banger of a start and pile on the speed early and often, he could get away with chewed tires without as much of a penalty.

Did hamilton save a set of options for the race? I know he went out again at the end, but abandoned his lap after a slow second sector. Was that on a scrub set?

Oh and I should add; that was a great lap from Kobayashi as well. He and sauber typically don't qualify well, but getting ahead of 2 red bulls and a Mclaren is still pretty good, especially since Hamilton's penalty promotes him to 3rd on the grid, behind the 2 mercs.

I'm interested in what he does at the start tomorrow, though as we all know, Mercs have been mighty starters for some time now.

Thrilling qualifying and hopefully a thrilling race as well. I could imagine Button on P1 in the end.

Button just called out Kobayashi as the biggest threat ahead of him due to their long run pace.
