Genuinely the FIA and stewards need to take a HUGE part of the blame. Whilst they continually refuse to nail Max to the wall when they should he will keep driving around like he owns the damn place.
We had another incident this weekend before his crash. If anyone else had reversed onto the racing line with a car oncoming there would have been a punishment.
Yeah, they seem to be more lenient with some than with others.

Because the difference between hyper and the next compound is around a second per (short) lap, will be see 2 stop races?

I guess if the hyper only lasts 12 laps or something then you could never make back the lap time. Can’t ever remember seeing such a time difference between tyres though.

Everyone (I.e. the drivers and teams) keeps saying a one stop will be hard but I can’t understand why.

Track position is absolutely King, Lord and Emperor here, so even if your HS tyres grain early, you put SS on and take it to the end. Even if you have to nurse them, so long as you have track position, no problem.

The only thing with that is that either tyre - SS or even US - seems to have warm up problems, so I think the undercut is off the table. Whoever can make the HS last longer - and that’ll likely be DR - is going to have the advantage (also better for safety cars) so it becomes harder to do anything with strategy.

My only straw at which to clutch is cars starting on the US from 11th (so Hulk back); if the leaders have to nurse the tyres so much that the US runners can stay within a pit stop, that could prove interesting and tricky for the top teams.

Hamilton has a new set of Hypers left so may be Mercedes will try a two stop if anybody ahead of them switch to the hardest tyre at their first stop and emerge behind Bottass and they manage to gain the lead with Lewis. a quick few laps then switch to a new set of Hypers to extend his lead.

How many seconds delta is there between the hardest and Hypers?

Probably 1.5 seconds between hyper and hardest?

And probably another few seconds gain until the SS get into the working range

You van only really do a two stop when leading the race and building enough of a gap to have a safe first stop (to stay in front or right behind no 2). Else you’ll loose the race on track position.

Even if you are 5 seconds a lap faster, still you can't overtake on this track.

Thanks to Grosjean, Verstappen and the likes who are going to bring out SC. Otherwise a procession in front of the Prince and the Princesses is the order of the day.

Good chances of an overcut are possible due to the time it takes for warming up the US tyres after the pit stop.

I think you can overtake, especially if your 2 seconds+ a lap faster due to the tyres.

Did't Schumacher get up to about 4th once starting from the back?

5th I believe? 2006. Was great to watch, but a different time. The cars are essentially yachts now, being both longer and wider - and faster. All making it harder to overtake.

It'd have to be a 2 or 3 stop so you can use the under/overcut several times, I'd think.
