Sky reporting it will go ahead. Must say I'm surprised, should never have gotten to this stage and been cancelled before the teams flew out.

No offense but the test is kind of useless, it takes days for results to come back. I know from personal direct experience.
Sorry, but this is plain wrong. The test itself takes only several hours. The fact that yours took days is simply due to currently congested laboratories.
I think he lives in America, our tests take longer and cost more than yours. ;)

Lots of reports suggest the drivers will all walk out together if it's forced to go ahead, so safe to assume it won't happen.

To be fair I am in the camp that does not understand the Mclaren thing. They have all of the team and kit ready to go yet pull out because ONE bloke gets sick.

The race should not have gone ahead. Teams should have never even travelled.

But as they are all there they may as well just do the bloody thing now. Everybody who could be infected pretty much will be anyway by now.
What about all the people who worked closely with that 1 person? What about all the people that have also came in to contact with anyone from the McLaren team? Use your head.
And your point is?

If all these people around him are infected, what difference does it make if they race or sit in a hotel waiting for their flights home?
so you think that its ok to spread it to every other team? haha i can see the headlines now...

Those people were already running around for about a week in the paddock and the damage (in their social surroundings) is already done.

The BBC is now reporting the race is called off. Can F1 just come with a statement? This is crazy.
It’s 3am in Oz... We will get an official statement soon enough

I'm sad, but it was expected. I think there was hope that this whole thing would show signs of slowing down by the time it got to the GP, but it looks like it's going to continue for some time. I can imagine the season will effectively be put on hold until this all cools down a bit, maybe they'll run races from mid-season onwards or something, but it's impossible to predict at this point.

gutted but it was inevitable really and is of course the most sensible course of action.

Sky Sports have now removed their "GP still on" piece from their website, suggesting it is indeed now off.
