Australia was 1 lap so it was all or nothing, we got 7 laps today they'll be fine

Exactly so. A standing start helps one side of the grid more than the other, usually.

Fix the barrier, send them out, do a rolling restart, don’t count pace car laps against race laps. What is the hold up.

As that's not what the rules allow. They're fueled for 7 more laps and nothing more so laps behind the safety car HAVE to count.

They should never actually have a standing start apart from at the race start. Its a lot fairer, safer and still 'dramatic' to have a rolling start. Having a standing start is just them trying to create a bit of chaos, even if it ends up being a crash. Not a fan of how we always hear Karun saying that there 'should' be a standing start

The comentators try their best for excitement hence the desire for a standing start. I wouldnt mind one but it's just not the safest thing to do and it can result in another red flag.
I agree that rolling starts should be the rule.

Agreed. Why "should" there be a second race start? Standing starts should be reserved for the beginning of the grand Prix imo

You could add SC laps on to the race distance but the teams would have to agree and fuel accordingly. The BTCC does this, but only up to an agreed number of laps. For F1 you could add between 5 & 10 depending on circuit length. It also makes it much less likely a race will end behind SC.

It always pisses me off a bit when Karun says it. He is literally a racing driver. I would understand it a lot if it came from Crofty, but it always seems to come from Karun
