I dislike Windsor because he's a typical journalist. Jumps on the latest bandwagon (popular driver) and is the most biased F1 announcer I've heard after that boob James Allen. He made on air fantasy man love to Lewis Hamilton all last year and the year before to the point where any time he got on the mic I muted my television. I want a race report, not a man crush. Though he has been around the sport a long time, and I respect him giving a try at an American team. I respect that, just not the way he reports races.

Would budget capped teams be able to use full size wind tunnels?

I've just ready part of a USGP interview (here : http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954, ... 89,00.html) and it seems that USGP are relying on that quite heavily:
We are probably one of the first F1 teams to go for a 100 percent wind tunnel model as there is no better way to develop a car than at full scale, as the beauty of it is to fit real parts to the real car.
No computer simulation at all? Surely that'll eat budget like crazy

Carbon is not as hard as one might think. its a sheet and some resin. Most fibreglass guys can do carbon, and one will be able to step up to the challenges of F1 body making.
You're right Giblet. Heck, I'm pretty awesome at laying carbon. I can make anything with the right molds (and can design those too).

I just can't believe some people here in the forum. All I want to say to them is go to the Team America F1 website. "We're coming to #$%$ up your #$%@!"
I think people are scared when they read that.

You're adding 2 and 2 and getting 22. Using a full scale tunnel means there would be no scale model program, but there will definitely still be CFD.

Because it's a spec series and Dallara happened to come out on top. If you wanted to build an Indycar in the US today you couldn't. There have been various Indycars made in the US in the last couple decades (Panoz, Falcon, Swift, Eagle), although none of them have been particularly successful for various reasons. Swift won a few races though.

Eagle won a LOT of races.

Historically, yes (and in IMSA). In context however, I was talking about their CART attempt in the 90's with Toyota, which didn't do very well at all. In fairness, the Toyota engine was also terrible at the time.

All I can say is that I'm sure we will see a Saab winning races in F1 long before a Carolinas-built car is on the grid.

Yes, I think you've made your opinion clear. And once it's on the grid, you can tell us over and over how they'll never score a point, then never get a podium, then never win a race, etc.

According to the news, as of today they have submitted an entry form, presumably with a cheque attached in the amount of €309,000 as called for in the sporting regulations.

Saab? Who are they owned by? I can't remember. X, I haven't read enough to know if you are joking or are serious.

But, can you compare the innovations that your counrty has created or refined that have not been mastered in the USA already? The foam home?

What do you know? Not every day of the week you get the opportunity to bitch with a professor who just the other day believed that electrical conduction was performed through metal surface only?

Anyway, after spending more years with colonials than I ever needed, I can appreciate your unawareness of individuals such as Anders Celsius, Sven Vingquist and CE Johansson?

BTW, the Saab team have signed Kimi for next year, when we still regard Finland as the eastern arm of the nation.

LOL, X, colonials? I'll take it, we're usually called imperialists on this board. Oh, and you forgot Helge von Koch: Image
