Ferrari F138

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Not only the nose, I think. Is it just me or the Ferrari front wing is way higher from the track than the Red Bull fw? Do I need new glasses? :?

I'm glad that after three days of testing the car isn't fully cowered with floviz like it was the last year.

Tire deg looks very good for F138.

They were talking yesterday about Ferrari have problems with rear tyre deg, but I wonder if that was allied to the analysis of exhaust positions. Perhaps the more extreme angle was producing a similar effect to the Acer ducts.

It'll be interesting - and more representative - how the tyre react in Barcelona.

To me it seems its little improved over the Brazil spec f2012, not enough tbh

With that very narrow rear end I hope they have a stiff enough gearbox mounting...

I think the ferrari looks higher from the ground in the pit under low downforce because they're running it more softly sprung but its clear its a larger car than the Red Bull. Taller and looks to have higher aspect ratio (LxW)

Massa leaves the pits in a very strange-sounding Ferrari, as if it's running on a reduced number of cylinders. #F1

After that strange lap, Massa is back in. #F1
interesting...

I disagree, pick the Redbull for example, you can hardly see any differences.

The F138 although a similar car to the f2012 has significant improvements to it's design.

That last photo is beautiful, compared to the F2012 the F138 has very good flow streaks/separation.

There are a few stagnant blobs which could be easily rectified, but that streaming alongside the car/FW is showing positive signs for the package coming for the next two tests :)
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the three strakes on the top part of the floor above the diffuser redirect air from traveling directly over the diffuser in an attempt to make the area just beyond the diffuser less low pressure thus allowing the diffuser to work more efficiently. Think of them is a giant set of upright gurney tabs. Everyone using these have done a decent job allowing the obvious floor room for their respective exhausts to enter the sides of the diffuser as well.

Excatly my thoughts. The new Ferrari seems more composed. Theyve had time to come up with new ideas. Their RW endplate design im sure will be copied to many other cars. And just look at the cars rear end. Its very tight. Last years car looked very unharmonic imo. This years car is the opposite.
