There was not a red flag. There was a yellow flag. The yellow flag stayed out exactly because Rosberg was reversing rather than parked at the end of the escape road.

If Rosberg had not been reversing, there would have been no yellow flags, and Hamilton would have continued his lap on which he was already 2 tenths up on Rosberg.

Hamilton's S1 time just before yellow flag was actually almost 1/10 down on rosbergs provisional pole at the time (19:906 vs ros's 19:826), so definitely not a done deal for pole. Rosberg's final lap S1 was 19:950.

Hamilton was better in S2. And we don't know if Hamilton had already slowed down for S1 right at the end. Could easily have lost a tenth or two there.

He was shown as -0.2 on his dash display just before he braked at the end of S1 for the yellows. So being down on rosberg at the end of the sector will be exactly because of the yellow flags.

That point was the start of sector 2 I think ! But the yellows were being waved well before the corner I think the yellows would of gone if nico hadn't reversed

Lewis was slower in his sector 1 compared to Nico's pole sector 1. Any time Lewis could have made up in sector 2 would have been negated by Nico's sector 3 anyway as Nico has been quicker there regardless. Lewis' ace was sector 2, and he would have had to have bagged two tenths there, which is a number he just didn't have, ever. For Lewis to come out and say in a press conference he had a couple tenths on Nico and he was on a 'pole lap' was wrong and a lie as with less than a tenth separating the two it was not possible for him to know anyway. With a margin that small it cannot be predicted.

The accident was in the first corner of sector 2. The sector starts half way down the "straight". Yellows were being waved all the way up the straight, so Hamilton will have lifted before sector 2 started.

If they've been summoned does that mean penalty impending?

No, it means they're being investigated, and the stewards are asking them questions.

My bet is they're asking "why on earth did you reverse" to find out if there was any justification at all.

this could be the case.

Lewis had only just entered sector 2, and he was down on Nico. Not possible that he picked up two tenths in just entering the sector.

This is turning into a right little storm.
SO, based on assumptions, HAM is threatening to ram ROS off track Senna style? What penalty can he get for a threat like that? Or is it the Senna-style 'whenever there's a gap ..' ? :)

No one said he picked them up entering sector 2. They said he lost them exiting sector 1, where there were waved yellows.

Funnily enough, everyone in top5 set their FL on scrubbed set from q2.

Why is that funny? Rosberg was first on track, so everyone else had to go through a yellow flag sector on their fresh tyres. Rosberg himself stated that the track was improving.
