Renault F1 R.S. 19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Renault with Red Bull type rear wing end plates. Interesting. A lower drag approach compared to the usual intricate rear wing endpaltes on the RS18?

Looks like they've gone with the red bull trick. Air flow through the disc hat/mounting.

So... With the strong top ten best-of-the-rest pace are the RS19's problems fixed now? It was a great car all along?

Or... :?:

Car is garbage. Constructors standings tells the true story.

The car seemed far from garbage in qualifying at Spa...

Precisely. Same at Canada, the RS19 went well. Renault performed as Renault is expected to perform, "closing the gap" to top three teams.

However Renault has not produced this expected level of performance at all tracks. At Austria, Renault was notably off the pace. Does the team lack understanding of the RS19? Why are the results inconsistent? Is the RS19 a flawed machine, or an unpolished gem that is actually superb? The RS19 should be producing a best-of-rest performance at every event.

This was one qualifying and the Renault was still 2 seconds off the ferrari if I am not mistaken. Where has the RS19 been the rest of the year especially vs the Mclaren?

The Renault is a bit like the Ferrari: Strong on low downforce track.
I expect this again in Monza then struggle again.

So they are proud to be close to Red Bull on track like this, but rest of the time they are extremely slow

And I expect Racing Point with their evolution to be ahead soon, despite a weaker line up

Very flat rear wing, like the Red Bull:

Good to see them solve their braking stability issues. Frankly I feared a Baku-esque disaster, despite seeing slow improvements on mid/high df tracks. They really shined at Monza in comparison to similar tracks earlier in the season.

Ferrari>Merc>Renault>=Honda in terms of engine performance atm, as I see it.

The latter was the one that was used in the race by both drivers
