I can really see this happening. Blown small displacement cars are seen as the future of the car industry. F1's done it. WRC are doing it. Lemans & GT will be next. Yes i get the point with durability, but maybe this is down to lack of investment in turbo engines with teams opting for larger N/A motors. Turbo, compounding, hybrid....The next level of evolution?JohnsonsEvilTwin wrote:But that can easily be fixed, take some of the heavy restrictions off the turbo cars.
There is a SAE paper by Garrett (Honeywell) on turbocharged endurance racing engines where they claim that the reliability record for turbocharged racing engines on Le Mans is better than for naturally aspiranted engines. The same output but with lower revs and displacement leads to less stress and better reliability according to this paper.Richied76 wrote:I can really see this happening. How strange. I thought it was an undrivable turbo dog. Tried it at the Ring and gave up by the time I got to ArembergBelatti wrote:I have driven the MP4-12C and I must say that it performs way better than the 458 Italia...

Car says:...you’ll never look at the Ferrari 458 or Lamborghini Gallardo in the same light ever again.
The Daily Mail says:Quite simply, this is the most complete supercar the world has ever seen. Quicker than a McLaren F1, easier to live with than an Audi R8 and more economical than a BMW M3...
I'd say they like it.The only real flaw we can find with the MP4-12C is its flawlessness. It's like a child prodigy; generally begotten by hyper-ambitious parents, staggering in its abilities, perfect in its behaviour, but oddly cool and aloof, and difficult to warm to.
Exactly what I found. Loved the McLaren, best car I've driven in that game in terms of overall handling relative to performance.Belatti wrote:Try again, the car is one of the more docile of the "big beasts". Strangely i found things i didnt expected, like lotus elise, that should be a pleasure to drive, as an oversteering crap
Top Gear magazine found the same thing: http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/mcla ... 2011-02-14Pup wrote:Let's hear from those who have driven the real thing...

Thanks to PD for equipping the Elise in that race with comfort medium tire....they are already snappy and trick to drive with Sports Hard and downgrading the tire on that was a cruel joke...myurr wrote:Belatti wrote: And I too found the Lotus Elise to be undrivable. Hated that Top Gear test track race with them, just got horrid oversteer all over the place. Could control it in most places but the snap oversteer in faster corners was horrific.
