What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

I havn't had a drink in over 3 years. at 55 even a small hang-over lasted way to long. Plus I have to maintain my boyish figure
Well on with the show. This little bit caught my eye. They state right out front that they are not connected with Full Throttle. I traced a comment on something I posted to a Communications Coed at U of T. A wee lass that I would love to.....

My main concern is that Texas is the heart of NASCAR territory.

Do the locals want race cars that can turn left AND right or will the novelty wear off after a couple years?

Impossible question to answer of course as only time will tell.

Actually I think the heart of NASCAR Country would be around Talladega
(Hell I can even find it on a map)
That is in the fine state of Alabama :P
Andrew check out the F1 Austin face book link I posted.
It has a huge international following. Read a little and judge for yourself.
I think this thing has a lot of inertia.

You mean moderating fuel?

Relax Freddie Kruger, I'm not trying to put the evil vibes on the race, just questioning if it is the most suitable location.

54,853 like that Facebook page but how will that translate into the number of tickets sold? The number of like isn't limited to the just the US.

Not sure why you would think I'm not relaxed, and you my friend must have missed this

”It has a huge international following . Read a little and judge for yourself”. I'm not saying it proves or disproves anything I was trying to make the point that the people posting (that does not have anything to do with the amount that say they like it or how long the site has been up) are F1 fans So there is international interest for a race over a year away on a site that we don't even know how long has been up. I posted it as I said for your viewing pleasure. Not just for today but for as long as you have a question of whether or not it is a race or a scam. You try to do a brother a favor and look what you get. Reminds me of a saying that has proven out in my life to be true time and time again.

You're hiding it well I must admit.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see the ticket prices for the Austin event whenever they show up, wonder if the typical US race-fan is prepared to fork out 500-600 USD for admission and a decent seat? In NYC, hell yeah, but in the deep south?

You don't let things go well do you.?
I also think you are obsessed with money.
Why so cynical my Aryan friend? :P The same people will be able to afford this race that can afford to attend F1 races.
Austin is not going to be an inexpensive ticket. In fact I predict it will make Montreal look like a deal. So?
Why do you want it to fail so badly? You are seriously cracking me up stud!

I don't think anyone wants the Austin race to fail, it's just that the chosen location for F1's return to US is a bit mystifying,
a city deep within Nascar country that don't even have a track? Scheduled for the hottest period of the year at that?

How is Texas deep in Nascar country? I think you are confused with the Carolina's and Alabama..

I think it is a great spot, central in location for the entire country.

The same people that went to Indy will travel to Austin. They aren't counting on local walk up ticket sales. When tickets go on sale, I know we will get ours, much like many people I know will.

Give it a name, but not even CART did draw much of a crowd when they were racing in Texas and that was on an oval.

Its not, Austin in particular is the Frisco of Texas. Most NASCAR fans come from the south east not Texas.
