Abu Dhabi GP 2010 - Yas Marina Circuit

For ease of use, there is one thread per grand prix where you can discuss everything during that specific GP weekend. You can find these threads here.

nobodys tyres will be fresh, but you can be sure the redbulls are more worn....and if tyres arnt pushed in qualy then when the hel are they?
as for the comment on tyre degredation...youve obviously paid zero attention this weekend like the majority in this thread. theres talk of teams 2 stopping tomorrow...the options and harder tyres are graining.
You possibly didn't understand me properly, used tires heat up better than fresher tires (it does make a difference if it's only one lap more)

I have certainly noticed that it might be possible to see 2 stops, but graining happens to new and old tires basically the same way.....

All the top ten drivers are on used tyres, so that's what he was saying.

Anyway, it was written the 3 ancient engines shall blow fire and brimstone into the sky, whence upon the bless-ed son shall push his head forth and lay down holy rubber until all traces of the foe have disappeared. Then he will alight to the top step and deliver the one title to the chosen people.

I hope the prophecy is true.. I mean, it was written in the books.

Well the only way I can see Webber grabbing the WDC is if Nando DNF's and Hamilton wins with Seb 2nd and Mark 4th or better or if both Nando and Vettel DNF and Mark comes home in 5th or better. [-o<

Frankly i'd be surprised if Nando finishes the race given how marginal he is on Engines and considering Seb's ability this year to break his cars the latter scenario is definitely possible.

Why did Red Bull choose to gamble on their qualifying strategy? It is the last race, thus it is better to play it safe and follow the usual strategy. Even Vettel himself admitted that both he and Webber could have gone quicker on 1-lap qualifying run.
Vettel said during post-qualifying press conference: In hindsight I think probably it would have been a little bit quicker if we had done two runs but if there is anybody to blame it is myself as I thought it might be too risky on the options if the first lap is not ready and the tyres are not there yet.
I hope it is not wrong to say that Vettel indirectly caused Webber to qualify in lower grid position than it should be.

No Idea, that was very poor decision making from RBR! :?

Are you saying that Webber took the route BECAUSE Vettel also took it? Webber also said that he came to the same decision you know

Webber crumbled, there isnt much more to say...when you constantly remark that you are fine with the pressure and its just another race it doesnt mean it will magically become reality...who knows what will happen in the race but its a major up hill battle for him now....shame :(

It all goes out live on the iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ (actual program link does not exist yet).

You can even choose a stream with the 5 live commentary, ie David Croft and Anthony Davidson- strongly recommended, it's so much better than that prat Legard. Great technical insight combined with a bit of banter, the bbc really needs to make them the TV commentary team...

One thing with iPlayer is you must have a british IP address to use it- so if outside of britain, you will need a proxy server inside britain (I've been told they exist, never got one working myself though).

Crumbled is a bit strong, he clearly wasn't 100% happy with his car setup and the 4 lap Q3 tactics clearly didn't help!

Well well well... The best 3 drivers (not in any particular order) 1-2-3 on the grid. I just wish they were closer in the point standings...

And also... The Hamilton bashers wasting no chance to show their colors. Just shameful.

When you go into a corner side by side with another car, you make sure you give enough space to the other guy. Unless you want a collision to occur, that is.

i agree, it was a case of sour grapes for sure for massa, 2008 still eats him up...it shouldnt though, becasue he got beat by the better driver that year amd handed race victories he didnt deserve. If you saw his interview after with the bbc...he came across as quite emotional to me.

back onto the race though...i cant but help thinking that somethings gonna happen, it wont be turn 1 because it an easy first corner ala singapore...but later on...whether it be reliability or somebody taking massive risks..should be intresting.
the 3 leading driver, in particular alonso should be wary of racing wheel to wheel with hamilton, he wont back down today.

Well, that's the thing, with Webber down in 5th and Button between them, Alonso doesn't even have to race Hamilton. He can afford to just let Hamilton go and put some pressure on Vettel, if he is that fast, and just make sure he keeps Button and Webber behind him. Ferrari have been quite strong in race pace, so let's just see what happens. I won't mind if the title is decided by an incident, whether it be a collision (with Vettel and Hamilton 1st and 2nd that should be very interesting!) or reliability issue, BUT it better not happen until after at least half race distance. [-o<
Otherwise this race may turn out to be the disappointment of the decade..

You lot do like to argue you know? :P

I did laugh at the interview between Whitmarsh and Horner, and even more at Montezemolo walking into the Mercedes garage and shaking hands with Schumi!

Yeah, unforturnately not in the uk, nor do i have access to a uk proxy. Locally we get the fox feed which contains narration by argentinean commentators that are more or less useless, so i usually prefer to wait and download bbc, but today it's kind of hard to wait :)
