Disappointed, I feel the car had more in it. Lando may have been compromised with his Medium run - the track seems to have gone slower for the second run.

But great work - the car is close and this track doesn't suit us.

And everyone suddenly forgets that:

- Miami was expected to be one of the most difficult tracks for McLaren
- The team has had only one practice session and a sprint qualifying session to learn and setup a brand new car

Track temps probably different today, but they might have changed setups to prioritize race pace. We got a little too high on hopium yesterday but I guess this still remains quite a weak track for this car. I guess we need to see how things stand after Ferrari bring their upgrade in Imola.

The car simply puts a lot of heat into the tyres. This trait helped in China in cold temps, but it was always going to be an issue in Miami.

That’s a bit depressing, still third quickest with a b-spec car
Let's see how we go. We may well have set this up for the race.

I am happy and take this P5 and P6. With an updated car full for Lando and 50% for Oscar, with only a FP to make some adjustments and a DNF for Lando in Sprint not helping team to make fine tunning.
I am looking forward for tomorrow race and see you in Imola.

What has happend since yesterday, we were on top of the world and now it’s just same old same old.

According to yesterday this was a race winning car and now we can barely outqualify the divebomber in his Mercedes
Cars were able to change setup after the sprint, and got some more data.

That’s what happens when you set expectations by one-upping max Verstappen by 2 tenths in SQ2.

It's a good result. Not our best track plus norris set his soft lap at a slower point in time. Who knows the result if he went soft on the first run.
The car is much much improved. Imola will be the one imo

To be honest I think I only saw 3 people being a bit unreasonable in exoectations, most seem quite reasonable and optimistic in this thread.

Majorly updated car, 1 practice session, odd tire behavior, weak aspects of very slow corners, long slow-mid corners, long straight and hot temps.
Imola will be much more representative of the progress we made, but let's not forget the team still says they need some more steps to be level with redbull, so don't expect after yesterday to be the benchmark, take things into perspective.

Lando didn’t make it to the exit of T1 in the sprint which is basically the ‘rong run sim’ in FP2, IF (and I believe he didn’t) make a set up change for the race then he’s had a worldie🤦🏼‍♂️
