Indeed. Maybe they went extremely aggressive with the setup for fp1 and will tune it to race pace

Looking at this again, I'm almost certain max did this long run on the medium tyres that he flat spotted earlier in the session. So probably not that representative

Last couple of laps Max started pushing in sector 2 more and the laptime followed. Think he was easing them in

It's going to be quite marginal. Mclaren and Ferrari seem within range for qualifying and following here is impossible.

True.. We'll see. To me Mexico is one of Max's best tracks. Even when things have been close or he has been in a tough spot he makes things happen. The car also looks quick - a crap S1 and a wobble in S3 still puts him at the top of fp2. Long run also seemed to be good considering older tyre age + RB's typical power detune in fp2

"probably a little better than I expected"

Given that that RB19 seemed to dominate the straits to a rather extreme degree, maybe they have problems getting proper downforce on the car?

Full disclaimer: Haven't had time to look at all the data because I'm at work at the moment, so this is purely going by what i saw on the broadcast, where they showed the track dominance charts.

Red Bull was also happy with the long runs. “We solved our problems with the medium tire. In the morning it deteriorated significantly over the long run,” Helmut Marko said.

That FP1 medium tire long run was embarrassing. RB need to have that footage scrubbed from F1TV

Fortunate it wasn't a sprint weekend.. that said with typical format they can be less conservative with fp1 setup

A bit late but a nice interview with the always down to earth Max Verstappen. October 21.

Max Verstappen sits down with Nicole Briscoe ahead of the Austin Grand Prix!

Some... Amusing quotes from this interview

Antonio Perez (AKA Perez Sr. AKA papa Perez):
Checo will definitely drive with Max in the same team for another ten years. And in these ten years, Checo might win a world championship. I like that my son competes with the best driver in the world. And the best driver in the world right now is Max Verstappen.
Perez Sr. makes it clear that he did not hold Marko against his statement: "Dr. Marko is the best, the best, the best sponsor in the whole world that Checo could have. He is incredible," emphasizes the Mexican in his passionate way and adds : "He's a winner mentally, and he pushes Checo. I love that, and I love Dr. Marko!"

Seems Ferrari were quicker on one lap. With such a long straight and slow corners, it shouldn't be too surprising. Hopefully the investigation won't lead to a penalty; if it does, a win would be very tricky

I feel like there was a pole there, but what do I know. The lap just didn't look on the limit. Maybe they are being conservative due to front brake locking? Every lap it looked like Ver stopped too early for T1, T2, and T4. Then in the final sector, stopping too early into the final left hander.
