Mercedes AMG F1 W03 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's not just the old simulator,it's about any simulator. MSC has a sickness or something of that sort. I heard him say that he doesn't use the simulator. Surely that aint no benefit.

Luca said so too, investing in costly,Very expensive simulators in not really a good solution from the cost cutting point of view. He says Ferrari is pushing for more testing. I cant help but wonder why Mercedes are not supporting Ferarri in this.

There should be atleast 2-3 more TEST SLOTS (In-season) of 2 days each. 4-6 days of more testing during the year where people can introduce update, run with reserve or young drivers. Personally I would like a 2 day Testing Slot after every 2-3 races till the 60 % duration in a season. Mugello is not enough.

Knowing Luca, even if you give him the tests he will still invest more in the Simulator! F1 spending is very competition driven.

I read Schumacher uses the simulator but can't do it for long stretches of time.

Schumacher got "seasick" when he uses the simulator. But I remember they developed a new one.. and i don't know if Michael had problems with that one also.

That's what I first heard then too. Then Michael came with his usual stuff " I can adjust to new tracks,I dont use the simulators" during the Indian GP press conference. Says he never used it for the Indian GP & generally does not use it.

Then when talking about Kimi says, that Kimi does not like using the simulator & stuff & Michael says he does not either.

almost all drivers get seasick doing simulator work..I have read about Wurz having big trouble ,David Brabham as well ...
I´d think the body just realises it gets tricked and as soon as your instincts get confused your body will go into strike and throw up-it´s really a matter of keeping you alive .
Yes it is some interesting technology but I wonder how much it is worth when it comes to developing a race car.

Seasickness is a common colloquial name for motion sickness; what makes you think it's anything to do with the neck injury though? It only has to do with your eyes and ears disagreeing about the movement going on.

It was believed that a heavy crash will cause motion sickness depends on the magnitude of the crash and it will beelsebob still remember what happened to Perez this year during FP1 in Canada after his crash in Monarco

Maybe it jostled 'ol Schumie's head around enough to give him a bit of motion sickness.

Right, but that's general sickness, not the same as motion sickness. It's your brain saying "oi, I'm still injured, stop throwing me around", not your brain saying "oi, your ears say you're throwing me around, your eyes say you're sat still, wtf".

When nobody seems to directly oppose this position of mine, what other purpose or benefits than a low-inertia, "twitchy", car with a rear-biased weight-distribution could a short wheelbase W03 possibly have?

Mercedes have said the car will be much longer than the W02.

So debating what a short wheelbase W03 will benefit/defict from isnt going by what we know.
More could have been done.

I wonder what they mean by longer. Do they mean land-yacht 1971 vintage Cadillac Mclaren long so to streamline the internal packaging and sidepods as much as humanly possible or do they mean Red Bull reasonable long. I'm really interested in this 'new and interesting radiator design' I hear about and what they are up to with the front suspension. I suspect with the lower nose design they might have something up their sleeves.
