Last year in Spanish GP qualifying, Fernando did 326.9 and Jenson did 325.8. Because speed trap is measured at the same place, although the circuit layout differs from testing to GP, there shouldn't be a problem to compare them from last year. So, I don't think the current speed trap is for real.

The current speed trap is from GPS, not track data. So it can't be compared to GP stats.

It can only be compared in relation to other 2016 cars and maybe 2015 testing.

Judging by the video I saw online (i know its almost worthless) , Mercedes and Ferrari give me this feeling that they just melt with the ground when taking a curve.

They seem so agile and it feels like both are acceleration much faster out of the curve.

Is there any possibility to buy the full timing and speed trap information ?

Any race sim so far ?

I didn't realise there was a layout difference. I was comparing the Qualy 2015 times to the current testing times... what's the difference and is there a map comparison anywhere? I've had a google but can't find anything.

It's not from what I can gather.

Kvyat's stint was likely done with around 80kg of fuel, Sainz probably with about half of that, the thing that should scare us all is if Rosberg did his with ~60kg. I don't think he was fully fueled but he was running heavy, if he was fully fueled, season over.

As far as I know there is no layout difference. The only possibilities for a change are at T9 and with or without the chicane at the end of the lap.

LONG RUNS
It's time for long runs. Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz are both doing a longer stint. Hamilton does times in the 1:28's and 1:29's, Sainz is a bit slower. Both are on the medium Pirelli tyre.

I'd love to see the actual lap times, this is probably the Mercedes around 70% fueled same'ish for the TR.

There is not much to choose between them on corner entry, though the Merc is obviously travelling a bit faster when it gets there...

The works Merc and Ferrari are noticeably faster than others under acceleration up the hill from Turn 1 to Turn 3, but it's difficult to split them. The 2015 Ferrari engined STR is next best, a step ahead of the works Renault and the similarly-powered Red Bull RB12"

Very interesting. So can we safely conclude that 2015 Ferrari EPU is quite substantially more powerful than 2016 Renault EPU?
I'am quite surprised if that's the case, considering the very decent 2014 season they had. Was expecting 2015 to be a temporary setback for them. But to be genuinely behind by more than 1 year in engine development is no joke.

I'am sure that can't be true, but how it looks like, is that 2016 EPU is barely if any better than their 2014 EPU.
It's true, Renault made no progress over 2014 before and during the 2015 season, then according to Horner the 2016 engine is little advanced over the final spec from 2015. So yes, the starting 2016 spec more or less on par with the 2014 engine.

Rosberg and Hamilton will share the car the next two days, rather than doing whole days each.

I guess Merc finally had a fatigue failure...

Ah ok thanks! Wonder why GPR-A thinks it is? I couldn't see a difference and they're definitely using the GP end of lap with the tight chicane before pit entry. Impressive times so far by all tbh and the spread between fastest and slowest is so much smaller than last years qualy times. I know you can't look into it too much, but with the times as they are already it looks like everyone has made a big jump over last years pace and I hope the smaller front to back difference shows in the racing.
