I think tomorrow Rosberg will not be 1st at the first corner, because it's a new track and also Ricciardo and Vettel are the best starter on the grid I think. It could be another strategic race.

Probably won't go trough. A simple lock up and you can change the tires? I don't think so. Otherwise everyone would do it by "mistake" after they've done their lap.

I wonder if Lewis had a glazed brake disc like back in Spa 2014. It would explain the constant locking up. Or it might've just been all driver error.

It was more than one lockup. He AFAIK never went pack to the pits and had to do a few laps on them (with multiple lock ups).
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

This was also discussed on Sky Germany. Big chance it goes through.
But even if it doesn't....Ham will make up 4-5 places with this mighty Merc until the first stop and will do a very early stop anyway to undercut even more cars. Plus a safety car that helps with long stints...will finish 2nd or 3rd no matter what happend if he keeps his car undamaged in the first round.

It's pretty clear from the not slipstream affected speed traps mercedes does indeed have a sizeable advantage over the rest of the PUs. 100% fact and everyone smart enough to say otherwise can go watch live timing for the entire hour.

Mercs are so superior that ham can finish second quite easily. Vettel and ricciardo same time... Tomorrow could be a nice race For 2nd and third place

1.2 seconds on the straight advantage as per Marko?
Rubbish.

Mercedes do have an advantage, nobody is disputing that, but the fact is that even with 366kmh Bottas still finished behind a Renault and Ferrari engine, which incidently make up places 2 and 3 on the grid.

1.2s on the straight was rubbish, yes. 0.6s is reasonable though. And that's renault. The real surprise actually is Ferrari which was no better and actually slower in the final sector. Both cars are running quite low wing so even that can't entirely explain it.
Williams is a known joke in any slow corners and shouldn't really be put into equation. The only reason they're at all competitive is that PU. That's been true since 2014.

Yes, just compare the nothingness RBR and also McHonda are running as a rearwing and still are not able to match an FI in top speed.

Do you have sector times?

Did Marco said 1.2 sec on the straight only or over the whole lap due to Merc PU?

I also think that Merc has substantial advantage in PU, likely multidimensional top end power, acceleration, and drivability.

It has an advantage, but not anywhere near as much as is being made out by Red Bull.

Marko, ridiculously, said that the straight alone would cost red bull 1.2 seconds.

It has also to be mentioned that a 2015 Ferrari PU qualified in the top 10, as did both Renault powered Red Bulls.
