Stop looking at it in such a simplistic way, more than likely he made a conscious set up choice and it didn't work out as well as he expected.
You think Lewis is the only driver who sets up his car for race day? All drivers set their car up with the best compromise for qualifying and race day.
You're the one that seems to not understand that drivers have biases!
I don't believe that tbh, he got beat fair and square yesterday and was trying for pole. He said himself the car had the pace but he was poor. I don't know what else to say on the matter. Today is a new day and let's hope he's on form.

Yes the car had the pace but the individual driver choices when it comes to set up, even the minor ones can make a big difference. For example something as simple as brake bias the driver chose a few minutes before going out on track.

The first 4 places were covered by about a tenth, with Lewis less than 3 tenths off pole in fifth. Lewis did not string his sectors together and knows he didn't and has said so. We should all be glad that it is so close at the front between three teams rather than just two team mates fighting it out. Lewis often loses a little of his competitive edge once a title is in the bag which it is barring any catastrophe and a sudden stellar run to the end by Valteri.

All this bickering is so tiresome and spoils these race threads.

That goes for every driver though doesn't it. We could analyse every detail in every session throughout the season if we wanted. For whatever reason Lewis has been sup par in qualifying this season, yes he's beat Bottas in the H2H but I expect more of him.

I don't see Lewis as being sub-par, more that Ferrari have excelled and Lewis has almost pipped them but not quite, even with a none dominant car.

Compared to his usual self he has been, when the car has been fast enough for pole Bottas has claimed it more often than not.

Max really stood out in turn 6 and Lec smashed turn 19.
Lec is down 5km/h on Vettel before turn 12 maybe due to his older engine but he is faster in almost all slower corners.

This is a trend in Vettel's entire career. Give him the fastest car, he will win and tell quotes which the fans want to hear. But it is frustrating, that his championships will misleadingly give suggestion that he is one of the 5 best racers of all time, while it is questionable if he is one of the 5 best racers on the grid.

I still can't believe you think Hamilton sacrificed himself, qualifying 5th for race pace advantage. If Bottas gets away cleanly Hamilton will be nowhere to be seen.

Yeah, or if Ferrari kept their speed advantage, they lock out the front row and Lewis was thinking 3rd place is the target, 5th at worse.

If a guy wins 10 races in a season, beast his team mate in qualifying and wins a WDC title yet "you want more" from him, then you're not coming at it from a position of good faith.

For now leave well enough alone and allow us to enjoy a 6th world title. :D I'm going all out with burgers and beer. How are you celebrating?

I won't comment on qualifying now, thoroughly disappointed in him but hopefully we can see the best of him today.

He has been great on a race day but I just want him to smash it on Saturdays as well, am I asking too much of him when he's delivered these last few years?

I will have a big grin if he grabs the title today but he must have a good race to cheer me fully up.

I wonder what can Albon do with the softer tires at the start, given he might have better grip compared to others in the first 2-3 laps.
