Normally I'd go 'oohhh ... aaaahh' and get all excited about the blown read wing idea but at a track where both top speed and high speed downforce (whichever trait you happen to think the Lotus style DDRS enhances) are very unimportant. Low speed mechanical grip and traction are king here and if the RBR performs the same way it did in Valencia, a similar kind of track, I expect them to be very hard to beat.

Could be an advantage around Suzuka, Korea and India though.

They can run a Valencia config minus the important low speed torque engine map

I still believe they have the greatest low speed downforce/grip, but their advantage won't be
anything near Valencia.

For McLaren updates, I think they'll install a new diffuser to increase low speed downforce

The recent McLaren updates really seem to have improved traction and low speed grip so I won't rule them out (you never can!) but if the weather is warm as is usual I expect a Bull on pole with a fight between all the main protagonists for the win. All the other teams have closed up on RBR so their advantage will probably be smaller plus of course everyone has updates (Merc maybe a dark horse with all their had work at the YDT this week?) that might affect the shake-up a bit!

Hadn't considered the RBR alternator low rev situation. They had no trouble around Monaco which is the slowest track of the year but struggled at Monza, probably the highest revving of the year? Is it cooling? Too tight a packaging job?

The part which goes over the intake that was added not to long back ,was that part of the low down force package or will be on the car permanent

A blown rear wing doesnt give anything in singapore since there isnt enough straights for a big advantage.

Couldn't it be used to add downforce?
Tune it to activate at lower speeds and have the airflow directed back which would increase the speed under the wing and in turn increase downforce.

They might just be testing it in FP1 & 2

When will McLaren introduce their DDRS wing? Maybe Japan?

Where does it say they have such a device? As far as I know they have been looking at the concept of it, that doesn't mean they will introduce it. Apart from all that it hasn't proven to be a winning idea.

RBR will not be on pole in Singapore. They have been a second off the pace for a few races now in Quali. They won't make up that defecit just because of a slighly warmer enviroment and a track that plays to their advantages. Mclaren seemed to have improved drastically in this area so i'd expect them to be on pole.

They were are at 2 specific races where less downforce was required. These circuits didn't play into the strengths of the RBR. At more similar circuits like monaco and hungary, they performed much better. Still it'll be very tight for pole, and singapore isn't a forgiving circuit.
