Is that really the rocket red colored Maximuscle sponsored rear wing appearing almost yellow in the flood lights or has it been changed to the Lucozade yellow? The picture a few posts up shows the car with the red Maximuscle rear wing.
I realise McLaren red is almost schoolbus orange and that cameras aren't the best friends with red, but still...

Nope, that really just is it – the "red" of McLaren and Ferrari are actually bright red-orange.

You can see how the light affects it on the sidepod image. The red of the vodaphone logo goes orange when out of the shadow.

The colour differences will just be the uncorrected white balance of the camera, normally we see everything in daylight which has a completely different kelvin light temperature to artificial lights... i would argue that the lighting inside the garages would differ from the track lighting also. You can see a remarkable difference if you just load on of those pictures into irfanview and start changing the white balance.

and for more on-topic-ness.

The interesting protrusion inside the main side-pod, is that to alter the flow characteristics of the air inside the side pod? If so, would it be to neaten the airflow or to 'direct' it?

That has 'always' been there, it's for cooling electronics and other seperate components.

IT is the type of paint they use. It is a deep candy-like finish so it appears to change colour at different lighting and viewing angles.

Yeah. Probably quite thinly applied as well.

Looks like they use a bit of a duct on the splitter to feed the floor. Trying to find a better view.
Image

Edit, nevermind here's the splitter from Monza and you can see it just has a big dip so a bit of an illusion.

What difference would the new rear wing slots give in comparison to these?

It appears to me that the current version allows less air to escape, so it's probably for maximising DF, while the old wing ( or better to say > the wing for faster circuits ), allows more air to pass, so that wing was less "draggy". At least it's my theory :) Please correct if wrong.

Look closely and you can see the Singapore wing is much much deeper than the previous wing. So the curve slots would not fit so well on it.

Another posibility is that Mclaren are making space for a duct in the side of the endplate like Mercedes
