I expect the red bulls to struggle in the race – their norm is to set up more for qualifying than the race in recent years.

Back on topic apparently the issue with mclaren at scrutinising was the front wing at the wrong height (from maxis news) But if this was so why did it take so long to measure it?
My bet would be because what they care about is the back of the front wing, when it flexes down. My guess is that the FIA aren't happy that McLaren have found a way to increase wing flex, but still pass the tests.
Why are the FIA cracking down on that now, after all these years of Red Bull having such an obviously flexing front wing. Wish they'd just be consistent!
Well they did introduce increased load tests this year – have we seen the RB8's front wing flexing anywhere near as much?

I remember a time when they just had to see one video of a Mclaren or Ferrari wing flexing and straight away it would be stopped

But, if its happening on an RBR... Not enough evidence

Ferrari International Assistance may have stepped aside for Fine On Mercedes... Schumacher and the Silver Arrows having a good year is very much in Bernie's interest.

I'm glad you've revealed your home location and preference for drivers/teams so I can put that into perspective......

I'm sitting here laughing about all the forum members crying about last season, a boring season with Vettel cruising away, but this season hoping that McLaren DOES EXACTLY THAT....how inconsistent can one be......I hope Merc have slightly better tire degradation compared to McLaren so they can take the fight to the McLarens.

If McLaren are as good in the race as they were last year --> oh dear, same season as last year, only different car/driver at the front.....

Freely admit to being a little bit of a hypocrite in that regard, but at least McLaren would let their two drivers fight it out. Either way I don't think we're in for a repeat of last season. The McLaren's have a bit of an edge here, and I think they'll even be a very little bit further ahead at the next two races, but I think there are a number of cars around them that will trouble them from race to race. It's not going to be easy for anyone out there.

Winner of the first race, has had a very high % chance of winning the title.
And it doesnt look like Alonso Kimi or Vettel will be winning tomorrow. So i'd say its good judgement , especially when it comes to Alonso's ferrari.

Remember Mclaren have the best development team in terms of finding speed through the year. So if the start the season infront, It looks promising for the woking team
I'm not talking about this race and neither is anyone else. The conclusions are being made that Kimi is toast, Alonso is toast and that Vettel can't race and the RBR is crap compared to the McLaren. NONE of which make any sense. There has been one session completed in this season so far. These conclusions are illogical and stupid. You can't make these conclusions after just one session and doing so is just talking to hear your own voice. We have a VERY long season ahead of us and making declarations is foolish.

What puzzled me was Red Bull's reaction, and especially Mark Webber's where he described the gap to the front 'not overly surprising'. Usually when a team is behind where they didn't expect it you get a lot of long and puzzled faces. Strange.

Ray, you're right, of course. It's just that F1 brings out the passions (some not too attractive) in all of us. It IS a long-ish season. ALMOST anything can happen (NO, HRT and Marussia can NOT win WCC) LOL

I'm just going to leave this right here for at least any questions related to Ferrari.

Oh I don't think the Ferrari isn't a dog, Alonso has pretty much said so himself. But Alonso has the rare talent to constantly punch above his weight. Are they going to win a race/races or the WCC? I seriously doubt it. But this is Formula 1, you never know. May be silly, but I agree with Jeremy Clarkson. He said when the road cars are beautiful and mind-blowing, the race cars are crap. I believe he's right. The 458 is a thing of beauty and a wonderful car when it isn't on fire. The last two F1 cars they made? Junk. (I somewhat agree that they should start focus on next year and possibly beyond though.)
