Yeah I was also surprised with that...because if you can park outside your box then you might have an advantage in wet conditions like today...essentially if your box has a wet patch you can avoid it and have a better start!
- Not only that - grip in the dry, line to the first corner, blocking drivers behind and so on. There's a reason for starting boxes.
- It's not like it was 10 cm sideways which should be penalised anyway but I'm guessing that was the lateral leniency rules expert above was talking about

- Maldonado got five seconds for starting behind (BEHIND) his starting position, both position (some cars missing) and within his box. Guess how much he gained from that.
