Fact: there is no way Vettel would have been able to sustain a continuous challenge on kimi, then ric, and then haul after verstappen, with the garbage tyres from the last 6 years.

durable tyres have absolutely transformed it back to real racing. Its like how it used to be. i can't believe i have my f1 back. Just think of the racing we missed out on for 6 years. unbelievable.

just need to sort the engines out in 2020 and it'll be perfect.

Couldn't agree more! Couple of other little tweaks too but such a big step in the right direction this year.

Couldn't agree more! Couple of other little tweaks too but such a big step in the right direction this year.

Yes, the tires are much better this year, but they may still be a little too sensitive to overheating.

I don't think it's overheating sensetivety, I think it's abrasion. The cars are more aero sensitive than ever, and the sliding around in someone else s wake is chewing them up!

Hasn't seemed like such a big problem for the ferrari so far, VET was able to spend many laps in both races closely behind and still keep them alive, maybe ferrari are running them in the lower portion of the temp range. IDK

HAM in OZ wasn't stuck behind anyone before pitting and still suffered tire overheating problems in the first stint. Or maybe it was just a bad set up.

The Merc has a longer wheelbase so it will have a natural tendency to understeer, and chew up the fronts. Not to mention Vettel wasn't really pushing until he got past Kimi.

Giovinazzi Qual + Giovinazzi Race +VSC+SC = --- happens...... we missed real fight between Namilton and Sebastian.
Red Bull took advantage from messy race, even though they much slower than Ferrari.
Bad luck for Hulk, he became green for sure.

Yeah I was also surprised with that...because if you can park outside your box then you might have an advantage in wet conditions like today...essentially if your box has a wet patch you can avoid it and have a better start!

- Not only that - grip in the dry, line to the first corner, blocking drivers behind and so on. There's a reason for starting boxes.
- It's not like it was 10 cm sideways which should be penalised anyway but I'm guessing that was the lateral leniency rules expert above was talking about Not half of the damn car outside. BTW didn't it help to block Bottas later?
- Maldonado got five seconds for starting behind (BEHIND) his starting position, both position (some cars missing) and within his box. Guess how much he gained from that.

Vettel know the book. Remember the overtake in pit entrance? He did it because he know... Also he used some trickery behind SC (I can remember, but it was something about some line or something)... He just know what he can do... or put it this way, he know what is not restricted...

My 7 year old son took one look at the starting positions and said 'Why is Seb all the way over there?' Followed by 'Is he allowed to be over there?'.
I said that I didn't think he was. The stewards decided that they would rather open a can of worms and let it go.
