More details about McLaren's technical leadership changes are becoming public as it has now become clear that Toro Rosso's highly valued technical director, James Key, is set to join McLaren in the same role.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Alonso did a 17.0x with softs tires and almost 3/5ths of tank of fuel when he was in clean air. They had really good race pace in clean air.
I don't think you can look at anybodies raw pace except for Max ...he did a 1:14 in a couple of laps.
Especially Alonso ...he know what it takes and he'll putin the times he needs, no more.
McLaren was faster Renault.
I would say McLaren was faster than any other midfield team by a significant margin. I feel like ALO missed the boat a bit, he pushed a bit later than he should have before Ocon's pitstop and then came out within a second of him. I mean it is what it is because it would have been useless anyway.

Yeah, I noticed that...not sure if it took a couple of laps to get the softs up to temperature...
I also think that Alonso's strategy wasn't ideal. Should had a longer stint with Hypers but ok who cares now since he retired. In the 1st radio I think he told he had less power but then gearbox, had a lot of smoke in the back though. As for the pace it was pretty much ok, at 1st stint Alo was pulling away from Sainz but the gap with Ocon was opening but on the 2nd stint with SS ALO was able to catch Ocon. By the way, in the latter stages I think it was visible that he was losing pace till the retirement.
