There is a discussion going on in the RB8 thread that talks of the blown diffuser loop hole and MercedesGP waiting till the final practice to protest. This has some credence in the changed exhaust note from Barcelona on the RB8. MW has also mentioned problems with balance on corner exit. Not enough time to sort this out after a late change to expected rear downforce levels.

I'm in the Lotus boat today :)

If a McLaren dosnt win, it will be either Grosjean or Schumacher i think.

However i can't see a Red Bull doing much, and Ferrari are now more or less gone home mentally this weekend.

I wouldn't rule out Red Bull just yet. I think they'll be a threat to all at some stages of this race, even if they're not the overall fastest car at all stages.

Okay so lap 8 and at this stage of the race the McLaren is around 0.7 - 1 second a lap faster than the Mercedes. They have about 0.3 - 0.4s a lap over Vettel who is currently in free air. They're 1 - 2 seconds faster than Massa, but probably 0.7 - 1 second faster than Alonso (hard to tell as he is in traffic).

Massa slowing further so probably has a problem. Tyres going off perhaps?

Massa has cooked the rear tyres apparently.

Mercedes having problems. Schumacher has had a car failure, Rosberg has Alonso all over his rear.

Vettel now on the same pace as the McLarens.

Rosberg pits for tyres on lap 13. So not good with the tyres.

Alonso pits so was using the last of the tyres. I think McLaren are going to try and stop less than some of the others... They're heading for a two rather than three stop.
