Maybe they did that to fool us

It would be a really twisted pipeline!! Therefore loosing energy! Wouldn't it?
Most probably they are taking advantage of the speed of the outside flow to help extract the hot air from the cooling system.

i think its the old one..

to me this is a new version.


you can see the difference at the outside "vanes" it now only one singel part.

The petronas logo is completely on the upper flap only. In the new wing the lettering seems to be speard across 2 flaps

In mix2mix s pic you can see both. The guy in the background with the Cap carries the old one and the guy behind him the new 5 element front wing

As i read the Statement by Mercedes, they were talking about a "brand new" Front wing....

When i saw that i was a little disappointed too, but hey, it's at least something. ^^

According to Gary Anderson the front wing is supposed to debut on Friday...

BBC F1 technical analyst Gary Anderson in Jerez
"The Mercedes is up and running this morning after its troubled first two days. The start of this test has obviously been a bit of a setback but the car has looked consistent out on the track. There is a new front wing coming on Friday, when Lewis Hamilton will be back in the car, and it's clear from Hamilton's comments on Wednesday that they need it. He admitted the car does not even have as much downforce as last year's McLaren. That might be a wake-up call for Mercedes."

The pics might not be of the new front wing at all.
