Well, until we will see a race simulation for Mercedes, it will be difficult to foresee anything. After all Rosberg is on hard tyres, and looking at Grosjean this afternoon and Maldonado this morning the wear is slimmer than yesterday...

Stint simulation is as good. Given the temperature difference of a normal GP weekend and at this test, not as much info can gleaned from tyre deg.

Huh, why? Grosjean is currently lapping faster and also on a long race simulation.
GRO is at least one stint in front.
I did a bit of data crunching.

Matching up webbers and grosjeans first 39 laps the table looks like this:

Summing up the laps for which there's a time for both drivers we find that Gro is .057s slower on average per lap than webber has been. So they are quite close. Also do bear in mind that Grosjean started his stint 17 laps before webber did, track being more green and all that.

If anyone wants the raw data shout out, it's a PITA to copy down.

FIA needs to ban red flagging sessions within 30 minutes toward the end and allocate set time slots for people to do their fuel checks.

At this stage the track is basically the same. It doesn't get any better in terms of rubber. It could only get worse since the temperature is going down.
More so, I haven't seen anyone doing 26s in the race sim yet, as WEB just did, followed by mid 27s. Impressive...

Tomorrow could be a right off with the weather and temperature.

Maybe we'll get to see the full wets and intermediates in action.

Well, that was on fresh tyres right after a pit stop with (presumably and most likely) a low fuel load since he's at the end of his race sim.

As fresh as Grosjan's after his 4th pit stop. And also some 14 laps before the end of race sim, which was disrupted by the red flag.

Any idea what tires Nico was running earlier for his banger lap? I believe they were used mediums but not sure.......
Mediums with several laps of fuel on board for Nico. Alonso and Grosjean were on Softs.

What is in column N of your spreadsheet?
In row 27 - GRO has 7s slower laptime (run-off?). I think you should see at all times and flatten that kind of excessive incidental slower times to see slightly better picture.
