Indeed. Wasn't that what RBR was complaining about according to an AMuS article linked to a few pages back? They alleged that it put them at a greater disadvantage because their car has more downforce than the others...
Ah... I suppose it's related to Hamilton's tread delamination issue too. With Massa the tread simply seperated from the sidewall. The heat must have been exacerbating the problems. It seems new harder compounds are coming for Spain though.

Massa's second tyre failure didn't look like it had anything to do with compound, it looked more like poor tyre construction. He didn't appear to be running the tyres particularly long, it just failed under load. Scary stuff. Still it's only a single corner of a single car so it could be some odd combination of a bad batch of tyres and Massa's particular driving style.

I seriously hope Pireli doesn't get a new contract for 2014-onwards because alot of these last few races has been centered around who's lucky with the tire and while understanding tires is always going to be. Big part of racing. It shouldn't marginalise racing to the extent that this years Tires have.

This whole race would be different if drivers not just Massa could have tires they could rely on.

I don't like the tires.

no point trying to speculate into all the details about how Button was driving to defend his position. Ultimate, Perez beat him fair and square and he deserves to finish ahead of JB.

Having said that, if this incident was between Vettel and Webber, ie. if JB was Vettel and Perez was Webber, I think this tropic storm will turn into a cat 5 hurricane...:)

2013 is turning into a classic season of team mate war. I think Massa and Alonso will be next.

Actually, it is not by luck.

I still believe that Renault engine powered car has got some advantage in weight due to better fuel consumption.

Massa has always been there to serve his number 1 driver since Schumi to now Alonso. He is a good little number 2.
When they say 'yield' he says 'how long' I mean he would be willing to arrive at the pits first WAIT let Alonso behind him get tires first.. Then get fitted and then race. This guy doesn't have the will to win that champions have. He's no truly a racer he's a good Driver but he will never be number 1 at Ferrari...
Is he the Longest running number 2 at Ferrari-?

That's horrible..... Haha so were entering a 'tire preservation era' from a purely tires stand point and pit stop perspective.

I think Lewis was lucky this race with the penalty. Had he started in 4th, he would've had to race hard like Rosberg did, finish the tyres and be forced into a 4th stop, thus ending up around 9th-10th. Instead, he just nursed the tyres trundling behind the midfielders first half of the race, which payed dividends later on.

The top 5 finishes Merc. had at the three opening races were all on merit, but this time they got a somewhat lucky top 5, especially with both Ferrari's hitting problems. Merc. clearly have a long long way to go before they can genuinely challenge the top runners in all conditions.

honestly, Massa was never (maybe 1-2 times he was) even close to Fernanado's pace and race-craft. How do you expect him to challange Fred?

Was a nice race, I wonder what the Lotus cars can do if they mamange to qualify in the front. Probably would be able to give the bulls a good beating. Really great to see both Kimi & Grosjean on the podium again.

Bad bad luck for Ferrari, I find it very curious how Massa's had two tyre failures. Wrong call again for Alonso - after they let him out in Malaysia with a broken FW, now they didn't tell him not to open the DRS - or maybe it was just a reflex opening it the 2nd time.

Anyway, the Button-Perez fight I thought it was very good to watch (except when Perez hit Jenson's wheel - lucky there wasn't a puncture). Perez should learn and benefit from Jenson's experience, but he shouldn't just stay behind him because he is Jenson and it's his teammate.

Webber-Hamilton fight was also enjoyable.
