I can't give you a source for this, but. The floor that came back from Spain last week was twisted!

I don't know how or why. Just it came back twisted and the new one has been manufactured with thicker CF.

The floor is not structural or is it?

Vandoorne was in gravel actually. Maybe then?

Anyone here think McLaren can sort out the structural weakness of head by using a strut as a temperory fix?

Perhaps this is how they achieve sealing the floor and be able to have a higher rake, by making the floor flexible. But apperently they miscalculated it. Just my two cents thought.

It could be heat. They have been having problems with the PU after all.

Can the floor be flexable? Isn't there a general "no flexability" rule? Since these would be considered as "moving" parts?

If this twisted floor rumor is true, I would suspect damage from a gravel ride... Don't see any other reasons for a floor to get twisted.

Sounds like back in 1982 when my mate put a V8 in his Cortina.
Every time he gave it a bit of throttle the engine would "twist" that much, that it would break the engine mounts !

Maybe the Honda PU has so much torque it's twisting the whole car

I don't know much about how they test the floor to make sure it didn't bend.

But if the test is done only on the floor, then I can think of a way to bend it when the whole car is assembled.

Could an oil tank failure cause the CF to lose rigidity? I seem to recall it's located in that area?
