It took Senna like 8 tries as well. In the end people remember the legendary achievements and records that stand alone, the sport is littered with one time world champions.

Wasn't that the one where Senna was stuck in one particular gear?

You're right! Funny how you remember that! I'm sure the same way someone is going to remember Hamilton's engines blowing up handing Rosberg a championship, but that doesn't matter to the masses.

I agree with this totally, Hamilton has always had the confidence in his innate skill as a fast driver with sublime car control, I have seen him drive other road cars and the speed he can extract is unbelievable.

Max has the same level of confidence in his own abilities and he will only improve with time and experience.

You cheap bugger  . Oh well, it is a good point I guess.

Gutted that Hamilton had to change Helmets and could not end the race in the Senna colors.

Before the last SC he had enough time to pit, put the Senna helmet back on and still come out ahead of Nico.

Is Hamilton at his best better than Rosberg at his? A little bit. Is his superiority overall worth 3WDCs to 0? I for one don't think so.
Maybe it's a question of your definition of beat, but they are both sitting with equal number of wins after 20 races. The two anomalies being Barcelona (both DNF) and Malaysia, where arguably Hamilton beat Rosberg until the engine blew while Rosberg was somewhere down in 4th...
My definition is having more points since that decides WDC.

If you want to go by wins Rosberg was ahead after 19 races. It's his very bad luck that the season has been extended this year.

I don't think we would agree on Barcelona but it matters not.

That's because just like some of the other WDC, no one will remember who Nico is. once he retires.

Hamilton will no more than likely hold the record for most wins and no WDC as well with 9/10 wins. That will unfortunately I have no doubt remind everyone interested in F1 exactly how Rosberg won his WDC.

Not a cheap dig but a cold hard fact.

I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned that's a looser mentality.

So if you are playing football (American) do you throw a Hail Mary every play?

A looser who is ready to be F1 World Champion in two weeks

It´s funny the concept some people have on "winners". I think they compete to win titles, and only those who can´t fight for the big prize must get along with race victories if they can. Then those who can´t fight for victories must get along with some podium, and so on

But saying someone who is fighting for the big prize is a looser because he didn´t fight for a second scale prize is.... #-o

It is interesting how hardcore Ham fans are trying to make Rosberg a small Wiener, who does not deserve the WDC. I am just wondering, how hardcore Ham fans get over the fact, that he won his Merc WDCs on a car that was miles away from any competition. So far away, that even a Wiener like Rosberg can easily score P2s in WDC and a WDC.

It is so ridiculous how the Kindergarden here can go nuts on these Merc WDCs...hen even Ham was sportsman enough to show some humility.

I find it hilariously ironic that you compare Rosberg winning a race over Lewis as a Hail Mary.

You obviously don't watch football. Late in the 4th protecting a small lead the best quarterbacks don't try for a touchdown every play they just move the chains and run down the clock. That's what Rosberg is doing.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how level-headed Hamilton has been since the engine failure effectively took away his hope of the title. Can't help but think that Hamilton of 5 years ago would have had a total meltdown by now. I guess he's met his personal goals in F1 and has decided to just win races for the enjoyment of it.

"I'm hunting. All I can do is do what I'm doing right now. The team are giving me a great car. I am going to give it everything I've got and all I can do is try to win the race. Right now I am just enjoying the moment."

Perhaps he's eyeing up his legacy - I think he'll retire once his current Mercedes contract ends. Sure, he won't beat Schuie's win total but he can put clear water between himself and the rest below him. If Mercedes give him a reasonably competitive car for the next two years, I think he may even hope to top the pole position winners list. 5 more takes him level with Senna, 8 more takes him level with Michael. Wouldn't bet against it. Of course, if Ferrari give Vettel a decent car he could put himself up there too, being "only" 15 poles behind Hamilton at the moment.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
