He’ll be back for Japan [Ricciardo], I’d bet money on it!

It can be pretty random how fast some surgeries heal, I was unable to use my hand for a month after having carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand. But I was using my left hand normally after 2 weeks. Same procedure and surgeon.
.
How much money did you bet on it? :D

He won't be back the next races. Maybe in the US October 22.

According to Helmut Marko, Franz Tost and Horner.
Ricciardo wants to be back asap. The other three said only when he is 100% recovered.

I guess it depends on how they define 100% recovered.

The plates and screws ensure that everything stays in place and now the missing particles must grow back in the bones itself.
Those plates do not speed up that process. It depends on how quickly his bones grow back and that is different for every person.
Then you must learn to use the hand again and that also takes some time. All that is not possible in 2/3 weeks.
He has time to fully recover because Liam is available till end October.

He doesn’t seem to be having any issues in this video. Tbh, I’m not sure when it was recorded.

Of course he had no issues here. This was recorded before the Dutch GP.

By the way, do you see all those stitches in his left hand that he now has?!

Like I said, I wasn’t sure when it was filmed as the video was only released 3 days ago.

Valid point regarding the stitches.

Interview with Peter Bayer. Interesting comments on the future of the team and also praises for Dan and Liam. Mentions how valuable Dan was setting up the car. Said they want an experienced driver moving forward so it would seem to be Dan pending he does well when he returns I guess.

Hmmm...so where is the future for Yuki. I think it is nice to have him in F1....but just in case Liam matches his performance in Spore...will he keep his seat?
I mean, he was basically the Honda driver RedBull put into the car for Honda. But was this done on contractual or on good will basis?

Rumour is that they will bring an upgrade to the car at Singapore moving further in the direction of an rb19 clone.

No idea but it seems if Lawson keeps doing well it could be Yuki on the move to another team given what Bayer has said unless Lawson gets loaned out to another team, however Yuki's contract is up at the end of this year too. Then again if Perez is let go Dan could go to RBR next year. Interesting times ahead

Franz Tost Indicates Yuki Tsunoda's Continued Presence in F1 for 2024 Season
Sept 2 2023
Red Bull's second team AlphaTauri is holding a 2024 seat open for Daniel Ricciardo, but his broken hand at Zandvoort has complicated the matter as rookie substitute Liam Lawson is already impressing.

Marko said Australian Ricciardo, 33, is in "good spirits" as he recovers from having some metalwork installed into his damaged hand, even though he will be out for some weeks.

"I definitely see Yuki in the team next year," said departing team boss Franz Tost. "That's more or less already fixed."

Mike Krack jokingly questioning his driver’s tennis skills while Franz Tost says his driver is “fixed”.

‘Yuki Tsunoda’s future more or less already fixed’

As for Tsunoda, there has been speculation in recent weeks that the Japanese driver’s seat is not as secure as had been thought.

It had pundits suggesting Ricciardo and Lawson could be the team’s 2024 line-up with Tsunoda left out in the cold as Red Bull also don’t consider him to be a candidate for a drive alongside Max Verstappen.

Soon-to-be-retired team boss Franz Tost has denied this, saying: “I definitely see Yuki in the team next year. That’s more or less already fixed.”

That leaves just three seats, that of Tsunoda’s teammate as well as one at Williams and one at Alfa Romeo, unconfirmed.

Problem with judging Yuki at the end of year two was his performance was starting to come much closer to Pierre's. To continuer Yuki into a third season was easy enough to defend so the next performance point comes up again - year three. This year Yuki started to deliver less errors and consistent results mostly just outside the top 10. Enter Daniel. He's immediately showing equivalent pace to Yuki - plus whatever else Daniel he's showing out of the car. Bayer says setup. It looks like Dan is going to become the senior driver in every way. Enter Liam. His results exceed expectations on both his first one and a half weekends. There's a problem for Yuki right there. Rookies have growth potential - if they're driving within themselves and in the right headspace. Case in point Mick Schumacher who often overdrove - it shows up in crashes. Liam appears to have time on his side and a strong mental approach. Yuki has a contract with a 2023 end date, it seems too easy for a ruthless family like Red Bull.

Tost is departing at the end of the year and there are other senior figures in the Red Bull family who hold the cards. Telling a current driver his career is secure is one way of keeping the team's stability, even though.....

Yeah Bayer in his latest interview seems to suggest its Lawson and Ricciardo, certainly an experienced driver in one seat and praised Dan's setup help. Still think it's Yuki that will make way unless RBR loan Lawson out to another team. However if Perez goes then it certainly makes things interesting if DR replaces him.
