This kid Antonelli is going to be a monster once his qualifying is sorted out. He comes across like Alain Prost where he focuses his setups mainly on the race.OverheatedTurbo wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:39Not the best result, but I’ll take it. Antonelli drove really well today! Seems like he really is the real deal.
This is what they said about Kimi in testing. Incredible race pace. It wasn't hype. Toto Wolff set an entire future on it. He is not a gambler. I would give Kimi 2-3 seasons before we start to see the complete driver. For now, it's just a taste.SB15 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:44This kid Antonelli is going to be a monster once his qualifying is sorted out. To be fair to Russell, he was trapped behind the Ferrari of Leclerc.
I think it's still doable personally. Qualifying has way too much influence on results this year and George looked nip and tuck with Max till he messed up his Q3. I feel like at least a podium was left on the table.
Not true. Mercedes was fast here. Check Antonelli's last stint and Russell's pace on Friday and every session up to Q2. The problem is that Russell and his garage underperformed in Q3 and then became trapped behind Leclerc for the entire race. Kimi is only a rookie so has the rookie ailments. It will take 2-3 seasons to become a complete driver. This Mercedes has pace.
KA was quick in the last stint with a tyre offset and clean air, closing down a 10s gap, while everyone else was in dirty air. As for the Friday pace, that isn’t representative, and you know that. As for Russell, he made a mistake in Q, and he will make many more. Max doesn’t. He’s on an entirely different level to George. I know that, and you know that.
I was responding to your point that you said which is that Mercedes is in no-mans land. The car is not in no-mans land. Whether they will win any championships? Maybe, maybe not. If they find 5 tenths in Bahrain, sure.DGP123 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 11:01KA was quick in the last stint with a tyre offset and clean air, closing down a 10s gap, while everyone else was in dirty air. I’m not denying the Mercedes has pace, it has made a significant step in this reg, but they won’t win either championship.
You could see it last year in F2. He can do those things with a car that only the real good ones can. Special overtakes and really incredible pace. Last year that was at times only but he is still very young.OverheatedTurbo wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 08:39Not the best result, but I’ll take it. Antonelli drove really well today!
