Perhaps. Although I've seen a number of LH fans confident Kimi will destroy George. Despite the fact George if not for issues outside of his control, would still be leading LH in the championship and is comfortably ahead on race and quali H2H otherwise.Dunlay wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 18:35If Max joins Mercedes while George is still there, Max fans would be like "Max would destroy George" and when that doesn't happen and I am sure it won't happen, we will see the team thread becoming as toxic as it is now. So there is going to be a bit of lull in between while Kimi drives in the interim.
What LH fans are they then? most people dont seem to think Kimi is even ready to step up into f1 considering his performances in f2.........Matt2725 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 08:06Perhaps. Either way, I'll be curious to see what happens with the new floor this weekend. I would suspect they'll split the running again, however with Antonelli in the car, they may not.
Maybe on race days, Max wont beat GR on saturdays though. But its more likely to be Kimi v's Max than Max v GR seeing as Max doesnt want a competitive team m8.Dunlay wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 18:35If Max joins Mercedes while George is still there, Max fans would be like "Max would destroy George" and when that doesn't happen and I am sure it won't happen, we will see the team thread becoming as toxic as it is now. You need to understand that Red Bull cars have been generally very good on tyres and that means, it probably might not have challenged the driver as much as a Mercedes has done over the years. So there is going going to be a lot of learning for Max if he steps outside of Red Bull to master that black art of tyres. Lewis went through the pain for quite a long time and as a team, Lewis and Mercedes has spent boat loads of effort to understand tyres, but Mercedes is still not where Red Bull is. So if Max moves out, he might find it difficult to master Sundays with a Mercedes, whereas George on the hand, having spent 3 years now with difficult cars, might have a bit more edge on Sundays too. It depends on how quickly Max can master the tyres with a car that is very different to Red Bull philosophy. Eventually, he will. If ever he joins Mercedes.Mosin123 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 10:22Maybe on race days, Max wont beat GR on saturdays though. Judging by their respective careers at williams and toro rosso its very clear max is the superior racer. Just the racecraft is on another level imo. Yes I expect George to be more competitive in qualifying but it will probably be closer to 50/50.Dunlay wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 12:10You need to understand that Red Bull cars have been generally very good on tyres and that means, it probably might not have challenged the driver as much as a Mercedes has done over the years. Mostly the terminally online ones. You see plenty of comments on Twitter/X putting GR down from fans with "LH44" in the bio.Mosin123 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 10:07What LH fans are they then? most people dont seem to think Kimi is even ready to step up into f1 considering his performances in f2.........Matt2725 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 08:06Perhaps. sounds like ur trying to paint a false narrative.
Eh what? If Max joins Mercedes, it is Russell who will be bounced and Kimi will be retained. So Max vs George will never happen (unless Kimi spectacularly flames out next year)Dunlay wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 18:35If Max joins Mercedes while George is still there, Max fans would be like "Max would destroy George" and when that doesn't happen and I am sure it won't happen, we will see the team thread becoming as toxic as it is now. James Allison has claimed that the new floor improves the W15's downforce, but its impact on balance remains uncertain.
The team will use it at Monza, but will abandon this option if the results are not convincing.
Ahem. Please stop gas-lighting the thread, thank you.PapayaFan481 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 02:48No, but I can't remember this level of toxicity between fans of the same team for ages.dans79 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2024, 17:48what? Thank god there was no social media in the Prost Senna days!!!
There is only one Tifosi and they are the die-hard Ferrari fans.Cocles wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 03:31They're not fans of the same team though, a lot of them are Lewis tifosi who will drop the Silver Arrows like a hot potato next season for the red cars, and (some) will be back in here acting like the Max fans they despise so much. George is either useful for Lewis, or he's a spoiler; there's no, "liking him, because he's a Merc driver." And they only cheer for Merc, because it hold's the title of "Lewis's car." Merc has tifosi as well, but they're also Lewis & George fans the way Ferrari fans have a soft-spot for Ferrari drivers both past and present.PapayaFan481 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 02:48No, but I can't remember this level of toxicity between fans of the same team for ages.

I don't mean to dunk on the Lewis fans, it's just the nature of fandom. The Dutch will drop RB the moment Max leaves. From the perspective of a "team first, drivers second" type of fan (like me) it's a trade-off. Sure, some of the Lewis fans will be insufferable trolls here next season, but... Back in late 2012, this place was almost unbearable with the amount of Merc haters relentlessly trolling the Merc fans. That all changed when the Lewis fans showed up like the cavalry and overwhelmed/drove-out the trolls for hating on their hero's new car.
