Japanese GP 2011 - Suzuka

For ease of use, there is one thread per grand prix where you can discuss everything during that specific GP weekend. You can find these threads here.

It's theoretically possible for RBR to clinch the title here. Will they?

The track most like Suzuka is Silverstone, they both have a lot of high speed sweepers, and some high speed decreasing radius corners. The teams that were fast there will be fast here. The medium speed corners are second curve, the last right hander of the esses, degner 2, and the exit of spoon curve. Everything else is high speed except the hairpin and casio triangle. The esses require constant throttle modulation, so it will magnify the strengths and weaknesses of each respective ebd.

Except that the lack of EBD in silverstone seriously skewed results.

So those people just can't stop talking about Lewis Hamilton? Bring up his name in every thread like some type of victory horn? lol

You are the ones killing off the threads, because you know full well that Hamilton topics are extremely polarizing. Nothing exists in between. Not even a race thread like this one will survive more than 20 pages without putting "Hamilton" in it. (and 50 pages of horse crap here we come!!)

Damn. The thread quality is killed of all ready.

Back to Suzuka.

Looking out for those 31 families that Kobayashi invited to the race.

By the way, nobody speaks about the earthquake and Fukushima anymore.....has the track/region suffered any damage that had to be repaired?

I don't think Suzuka is close enough for that. But didn't indycar just do a race at Motegi recently? Also isn't MotoGP boycotting the Japanese race?

You realise MotoGP is currently halfway through their race weekend at Motegi?

The region has been given the all-clear by all parties involved.

Don't follow MotoGP; so I very literally didn't realize that.

Hamilton obviously agrees with me :P

In that sense, it’s a lot like Monaco

No, far from it : Japan is quite a big place ...

Im not sure about monaco. for qualifying thats true, but during the race, theres no overtaking. Vettel should have gotten wrecked this year on those tyres (weve seen so many overtakes because of the grip difference between new and worn tyres this year) but despite a rather epic strategic blunder, he won the race.

Spa and Hungary for sure though. Suzuka is another one of those circuits that has a beautiful flow to it, the way the corners just sort of hook up with each other. Smoothness and precision is the order of the day.

Yeap I meant more in qualifying; as in a fast driver in a slow car has a chance of out qualifying a slow driver in a fast car.

Oh boy I hope they don't ban DRS at the 130R or Dunlop

I'm guessing if they don't then the RBR will be the only cars using DRS through there anyway.

More to the point; where can you put DRS here? The only possible location is surely the pit straight

Depending on how the cars cope, and what the FIA decide, I would say a good place would be through 130r to the last chicane, but that would go against the general consensus that it might be banned through there.
