I'd like to see a strait forward race, no weather, vsc or sc, so we can get a clearer view of the pecking order.

That one was awesome, if I am not wrong only 6 cars ended the race.

Ideally the 6 front runners should knock off their front wings on the first lap which brings out a safety car. All 6 cars have their wings replaced but start near the back of the pack. Can this be my prediction? Winner? I don't care

@F1Krof, this lap reminded me of that great lap of Kubica, in 2010, when he almost got pole while driving a Renault car.

As I said on the Spanish GP thread, RB was behind pole by similar gaps on 2016 and 2017, so that hints that they can indeed be closer at Monaco. I'm not expecting them to fight for pole this time but they might split the typical lock of the first two rows by the Mercedes and Ferraris. If Kimi and Bottas underperform, I think it's possible to see a RB, or both, beating them.

I think we'll see lot's of crashes. Maybe not in the race but at least on FPs. With Stroll, Palmer, Grosjean(fast but error prone), Magnussen, and others, on the grid, crashing is always at stakes.

I think 4 crossed the line, a couple crashed late enough to still be classified.

After 14 laps... we pretty much had a good idea of the race pace of the cars. Even out of position cars.

Well Hamilton and Vettel have both said they think they have the faster package - and opinion amongst journalists and commentators is also split (Brundle, for example, saying he disagreed with most people he spoke to and thought Vettel had the better pace) - so really not sure it's clear.

I personally think the Mercedes still holds a slight advantage but I think the nature of tyre strategies and VSC interference made it very difficult to have a good idea based on the data.

Given what seems like good performance of the McLaren chassis, how fast do we think they'll be in Monaco?

My feeling is that 7/8 on the grid [edit: didn't realise Stoffel had a grid penalty when I wrote this] is eminently achievable from car, but worry slightly that their driver combo - a rookie and a guy pulled out of retirement - might not make the most of the package.

If Alonso was racing, I might even be tempted to suggest he could get close to the RB's but maybe that's a stretch.

I am putting Vettel on Pole and think the Mercs will crash, similar to the Bottas push in Spain. If he can take out 2 competitors with 1 small mistake, think about what he can do in Monaca
