I would suggest that an improvement of 0.7 seconds is likely not to bunch the field up – instead, stretch it out more!godlameroso wrote:Good for the back markers it seems they've made some progress, last year's best back marker team did this in qualifying for Spain Caterham-Renault 1:25.277, Bianchi has already bested that by over a second of course I don't know if he was using super softs, but at least it means the field is starting to bunch up. Sad to see the Caterham only having improved .7 of a second, it's really not enough.
Caterham are disappointing people year after year...beelsebob wrote:I would suggest that an improvement of 0.7 seconds is likely not to bunch the field up – instead, stretch it out more!godlameroso wrote:Good for the back markers it seems they've made some progress, last year's best back marker team did this in qualifying for Spain Caterham-Renault 1:25.277, Bianchi has already bested that by over a second of course I don't know if he was using super softs, but at least it means the field is starting to bunch up. Stronger antenna or something. Perhaps sending more Gb then a regular system does.NathanOlder wrote:Im sure its been mentioned before, but what exactly is the big Fin ontop of the camera for ? I have seen Ferrari mainly and FI using it. Ferrari now dont have it. What exactly is inside it ?
It comes from the arrogance of many Formula One fans and the team itself which thought it would be easily beating teams like Force India and scoring points. Every year was going to be their year and they gave no respect to anyone else because they thought they were better, when in reality it was all just a bunch of delusion. Kind of like Liverpool fans. I have no time for a team like Caterham, using names like Lotus to get the stupid British masses and media to love you from day 1.SoumyaBanerjee wrote:Caterham are disappointing people year after year...beelsebob wrote:I would suggest that an improvement of 0.7 seconds is likely not to bunch the field up – instead, stretch it out more!godlameroso wrote:Good for the back markers it seems they've made some progress, last year's best back marker team did this in qualifying for Spain Caterham-Renault 1:25.277, Bianchi has already bested that by over a second of course I don't know if he was using super softs, but at least it means the field is starting to bunch up. The Merc is mighty in the final sector, Alonso would close up to him, but then get left for dead through the final few corners, and then gradually catch up to him with drs down the back straight.GrizzleBoy wrote:Fernando looked quite stuck till Nico moved out of the way, despite going 2 seconds a lap faster on the softer tyres till he got into the dirty air.
He was also using DRS twice per lap while Nico wasn't using any at all and couldn't catch up on the straights.

Race Pace:
Red Bull, Mercedes, Lotus as fast as each other in race pace.
McLaren struggling for consistency and with tyre degradation.
Ferrari better than McLaren over race stint
Qualifying Pace:
Red Bull running on heavier fuel loads, looking potentially faster by a small margin of about two-tenths of a seconds.
Nothing to choose between Mercedes, Lotus, McLaren, Ferrari
Top five teams could be separated by as little as two-tenths
Williams running heavy and potentially the best of the rest.
Sensor for measuring car speed. This way it's high above any wake effects, and they'd get a much more accurate reading.NathanOlder wrote:Im sure its been mentioned before, but what exactly is the big Fin ontop of the camera for ?
