A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
They ran that earlier in the year as I believe it is a telemetry data box or inertia sensor of sorts. I have heard W02 will be running different exhaust configurations today as well, per 2012 specs of course

Do you think that is a just an a extra data box?
Btw. any more pics will be welcone to close look?

Looks like f-duct or something alike is present (just noted air inlet near mclaren f-duct inlet used to be)...That's what Whitmarsh told about.

Note that the nose intake is blanked off. And what are the two boxes on the front wing beside the supports? Very low camera mounts, or some form of adjuster?
Why the continued blown front wing discussion when the nose opening can only be for cooling?

I could see nothing new and interesting on this car. Even the big bulge at the engine cooling intake was used in winter-testing.
As Ferraripilot write, maybe they're running with different engine mapping or exhaust configurations. The big issue is that these things are invisible for the eyes.
Reflecting to the front wing, I don't take it so serious. The best thing is to get maximum track time in these hard times with limited testing possibilities. If they have something good in their pocket, put it on the car and test it.
Only the best balanced car with the highest down-force goes quickest, so just one good thing doesn't change the world. Look at Ferrari. They have been copying Red Bull as much as possible, and where they are? Around 0.5-0.6 s/lap from Vettel.
Michael Schumacher: When you start out in a team, you have to get the teamwork going and then you get something back.
There is no hole in the nose. It looks like but there isn't. Ferrari also tested with a closed hole in the nose of their car.
I even don't look at the front wing anymore because almost all the FW are finetuned and they almost can't improve anymore. Maybe the flexing part, but the design in aerodynamic terms is already optimized.
