qualifying numbers show a significant increase in load, with the standard deviation of speeds clearly lower than #Piastri and Max. A novelty that should not be underestimated. #Leclerc went from the one with the least lap time running full throttle in all of the first 6 races to the one with the longest time at full open throttle (67.4 ) . Perhaps some of the top speed was lost but the increase in load seems outstanding. The first sector and the tires are the problem. (с) Federico Albano
I think the second big upgrade will fix the tyre warmup according to Sainz's comments, but such an increase in load bodes well.
Where did he say it?

Sainz will have to be nice and aggressive at the start if he wants to throw his hat in the ring for a win.

I would start with medium and if it is true that degradation is better on Ferrari while keeping same race pace), I'll make the stint longer. If a SC comes after RB and McL have changed to hard(?) and Ferrari not yet, than it should be a Ferrari 1-2. If SC does not come in than, if feasible I'll put used red on one car and new hard on the other.

I agree with this except that, what we do if the others start with mediums also?

Most will start on Mediums. What he means is that Ferrari might go longer than others and hope for SC/VSC after others pitted.

If we can overtake them (I doubt) we do that, otherwise we follow them and then we do the overcut. My idea is that at Imola a SC is probable (old style narrow circuit), so I think is better to do an overcut expecially if it fit better the car character

Not expecting anything more than a P3 today. McLaren being up there with Max may benefit us if they get in a fight for the lead.
I'm in the same boat. I'm expecting a 3-4, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Leclerc ended up in a fight for the win, especially if he manages a good start for once. (fingers crossed)

Hopefully both Charles and Carlos get away well. Getting through T1 P3 & P4 is the hope. After that let Lando attack Max and react well. We have to assume Ferrari Plan A for both drivers will be split. Carlos was mega stint 1 in Australia but Charles is typically easier on the tires. Who ever pits first can force Max and Lando into the pits. With the predicted good tire wear, hopefully that can play to Ferrari's hands.

Aaand the track is now covered in clouds and cooling down.
We really don't get any luck.

Atrocious strategy. Why did they not extend? They had nothing to lose.

edit: nvm, they were covering off Oscar.

They would have been passed by Piastri. No way they’re overtaking on track if that happens. Miami all over again.

And if there is no safety car, you’d be saying the same thing about extending. Lose/lose.

They’re just slower.

The tyre deg advantage kicks in so late into the stint that everyone pits at the time anyway. Like 20+ laps in.

The "we will be fighting for the win" bravado looks just silly now.
