About that 1 second quote, maybe it wasn´t one second but he says himself in this video Nico had run the simulator all day, Hamilton jumped in, did a couple of runs and went quicker ;)

+1

It’s too early to judge the car but when I have seen the first shots I have felt deeply disappointed. Apart from the new nose I haven’t seen so many changes and the coanda exhausts seem to be out of place, I mean, I see the RB09 and new Mclaren and the exhaust appears completely integrated as a natural part of the car, with the WO4 I do not see this integration and coherence.

Anyway I am curious to see if they have changed the suspension, Costa´s work in this area could be very valuable.

It seems as though an unwillingness to stare facts in the face is de rigueur on this thread. I seem to remember some usual suspects on this thread having no trouble at all making the same parallels with Red Bull Technology - which it is by the way - but there is general hypocrisy when the same is suggested of Mercedes.

The fact is they are employing close to a thousand people there now. It's not exactly the cost saving Formula 1 alternative they were looking for.

Its a simulator! They were not going for fastest ACTUAL lap.

Your point is correct that Merc cannot plead poverty or being a small team.

However, I'm not sure about "close to a thousand" people. The 2011 accounts showed Merc GP with 526 staff in 2011 and RBT had 605. Given the vagaries of how these things are counted, it's safe to they are in a similar ball park of 500-600. I guess we can add drive train people at MHPE and Renault to get "close to 1000"?

The exact numbers are irrelevant, I agree the point is that Merc have amble resource to play with the big teams - hence the frustration expressed in this thread.

The spectacular misreading of accounting data was done to death in the RRA thread. I blame ignorance rather than hypocrisy, although the outcome is the same! http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... f=1&t=7695

STILL DOESN´T CHANGE THE FACT NOW DOES IT?

I´m positive they both are going as fast as they can in the simulator as well.

It's going to be such a huge pain distinguishing between both drivers because of the essentially same coloured helmets, yes I know the T-cams are coloured differently but during a race it's just going to be such a pain. It's a shame Hamilton couldn't give up his little Senna nonsense and go for his own original design. Rosberg is the senior driver in the team so he shouldn't have had to change his helmet. Commentators and viewers are going to suffer, except for the smarmy fans you find on the internet who'll claim there's no problem whatsoever. ](*,)

Lewis is Orange-y with black gloves. Nico is Yellow with Yellow gloves.

Let's just wait until the actual racing starts and see how lovely it really is. I can assure you it's going to piss lots of people off. And thanks for being a perfect example of a smarmy internet person who thinks he's smarter than he really is by stating obvious yet pedantic things which completely miss the point.

I wonder if you realise the irony of you calling anyone who disagrees with your opinion to be smarmy.

I just think it's pathetic, you try to act clever but you're not thinking about it at all, I don't understand why people try so hard to pretend like they're perfect infallible beings. Like I said, let's wait for the season to start. And let's not even talk about how hard it's going to be for the vast majority of spectators watching it trackside. It isn't just some trivial thing that can be easily distinguished, it's an actual problem that's going to annoy people for as long as it stays. And Mercedes are acting hopeless.

It's always important in motorsport for spectators to be able to distinguish cars easily, and because F1 has never bothered with anything real all we properly have to go with are helmets and t-cam colours. So when the helmets are the same it becomes farcical.

It´s still a yellow helmet and with being at Mercedes it will still have the monster sticker at the top.

If anything Hamilton has had a yellow helmet since day 1. Not so much for Nico.
