Yeah so many signs point to the ERS being off in that particular run. On day one when they were running you could hear the high pitched whine of the generators working, it was even louder thsn the other cars'. I cannot remeber hearing it in that last video tho...

ERS might be off so they can test the parasitic drag? Or the back EMF? Or background interference? Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure it's not the ERS that's off, it's that the wastgate is spilling a lot of exhaust. That would explain both the loud engine note, and the lack of high pitched whine (which is the turbo spinning, not the ERS generators working).

This is from the first day of testing when team was trying to solve electronic glitches in the engine.
Engine starts to work normal on Day 3 and sound it makes became more normal :)

Reminds me a bit of the Toro Rosso at the Jerez winter test last year

But on day one it was said that the sound is real "throaty", very powerful, big bang firing sequence, a real monster...
Now we are saying it was due to problems?

No, The actual engine sound is troaty and sounds like it is really powerful. You can search a day 3 video and listen to the engine. But on this specific video, engine sound is weird because of a malfunctioning part in the engine or a part related with the engine.

And for all those worried that they are pushing him Back into the Pit., Button is actually driving again, so it wasn't a major Problem.

But yes i wanted to post a Rake Picture yesteday but forgot to. It's actually quite a lot of rake, hopefully PP knows how to use it.

11:44 Button completes his out lap. So far so good for McLaren-Honda on this latest run.
It says something about this car's performance in the first test if the spectators are happy to see it complete a lap.

They appear to have settled now, steadily putting in quicker laps. They just need to maintain this now, and perhaps turn the wick up for the last couple of runs for the day. Nothing to lose if the engine fails at that stage, but would gain good information from it.

Going by Ron, this isn't the final engine spec so Id be happy to see her blow up, would find the weakest part Id guess for the next test to ensure we hit the ground running.

Some good laps from button but where plum last at the moment.
